Hi folks,

Anyone had any luck figuring out how to do seat selection or a paid exit row seat on a VA ticket on SQ metal? I'm really just keen to avoid the possibility of the dreaded middle seat, but talking to either VA or SQ with either the VA or SQ PNR has produced results so far.

I normally avoid booking this way because of this reason, but had no choice for an upcoming trip!

Cheers,

Danny

About 2yrs ago, I was once told on the phone that exit row seat selection was for SQ bookings only.

Yeah, they seemed pretty clear on it in the SQ call centre. The first time I booked into this sort of codeshare I was able to find one SQ operator who would let me select seats, but I guess now they have the process sorted out and seemed very quick to say it couldn't be done :(.

Excellent reason to never book via VA if you have a choice, unfortunately :(.

I have booked flights on SQ thru AMEX Travel registering my VFF (Gold). Then went online with the SQ PNR Ref and paid for the exit rows. Sometimes they are already taken, then I use Expertflyer to track the seats and the last two times I was able to get the seats later as I assume others changes their bookings.

Similar experience to VA777.

I flew SQ in August SYD- JNB - booked through Flight Centre direct with SQ but used my VFF Gold Status. Accessed booking through SQ website (as did my friend who has no status) and purchased exit row seats for the 2 legs I was flying solo and for the 2 legs we shared we booked window and aisle in a row of three and had no one in middle seat.

Yeah, I agree - no issues if booked on an SQ flight number through Amex travel (I did about 800 SCs worth of Y travel like that last year!). It just seems to be a problem when booked on the VA codeshare of the SQ flights :(.
