Seat selection BA AAward flight.

I have just made an AAward booking on a BA flight. Of course, the ++ is scary given that it is through LHR and it is BA, but at least the points are less than with QF by a factor of 45% :shock:. AA does not give me a button to click to seat select. Am I correct that I have to call AA to get the BA PNR or is there some work around on this?

Since OP is QF WP/oneworld Emerald there shouldn't be a charge when selecting a seat in advance through BA or BA.com. Of course, you'll need to get that BA/Amadeus PNR by ringing AA first!

That's right. But the booking on BA.com would have an AA membership number attached to it. If it's an equivalent OW Emerald status then yes. If not - you have to pay

You can change your AA FF# number to QF by entering your PNR and other details on the Finnair or Royal Jordanian websites. The change is then reflected back on BA.com, and you'll be able to select your seats and get your other status benefits. (I do this pretty often myself, when booking an award with BA Avios and then changing the FF# to AA.)

On our recent AA F Aaward on BA out of LHR I emailed customer relations at BA-through their website-and asked for the BA PNR which they quickly supplied and then I was able to select seats on ba.com.

I'm not sure if BA.com restricts you from changing your FF# once entered in the system, but if it does, you can change your AA number to QF by entering your PNR and other details on the Finnair or Royal Jordanian websites. Still, if you do it I don't think BA.com would be able to recognize your QF WP status just by entering the number. At least it does not do it for my partner's US Airways Gold status. You probably need to ring them

I haven't had an issue with my AA EXP/OWE status being recognised immediately on BA.com, and being able to select seats once the FF# is changed -- I've been using the Finnair website trick for the past couple of years. YMMV, of course.

I've found the QF website accepts the AA PNR now and then once logged in, gives you the Amadeus PNR.
