Re: Seat reservasidetion changed.

Extrapolating this to the obvious conclusion would have you believe that it is foolish to pay for more than economy with Qantas.

My foolish twin :- "Why have my assigned seats in business class been moved to economy???"
Qantas phone rep :- "I'm not sure - why don't you take it up with the check-in agent"
Qantas customer service :- " "

Sounds to me like you have been run over by the Qantas Fairness System.

Re: Seat reservation changed.

Just checked the seat map for QF10 on 11 June 32JK might still be available. But you're right all other exit rows are gone. I'd say call and make them put you in an exit row, failing that demand your money back, this may prompt them to fix the situation.

Depending on height, though, row 32 is NOT extra leg room, certainly not when compared to an exit row.

I don't know the cabin that well. Just that it was marked as exit row at the place I checked. I'll research further.

Row 32 is the front of the upper deck economy cabin, so it is a bulkhead. In keeping with all QF bulkheads, legroom is actually restricted.

Here's a couple of pics from QF2 DXB/SYD last week of seat 32K & looking across the aisle to 32 DEFG.

I was lucky to have a shadow in 32J. I felt that it had a decent amount of legroom for me but I'm only 165cm tall.

The third pic is of the Qatar A380 upper deck exit row in economy from QR833 BKK/DOH so you can see the huge amount of legroom you get compared to the bulkhead & how the exit window seat legroom is not impacted by the escape slide unlike the B744.

At least the OP has identified the change and has an opportunity to work with Qantas (via Red Roo, Customer Care etc) to sort out an acceptable resolution. My recent experience (last month) left the only solution to the cabin crew to sort out, where their options were very much limited. I had boarding passes already issued and in hand for an extra legroom seat on A380 (three pax, seated 80ABC), and found out when they were scanned at boarding that our seats had been changed to 81ABC. This change was made after we had been checked in and because someone else managed to convince the check-in staff that their need for the extra legroom of 80A was greater than my need.

The staff at the boarding gate initially just handed me new boarding passes for 81ABC. I let them know that I was very unhappy about this last minute change and they went away for a few mins and came back with boarding passes for 81AC and 82C, saying we could use both rows of 3 seats. I accepted this (no choice really) and we boarded. Then we found the passengers who had been allocated 80ABC seated in 80A and 81AC. It was then up to the onboard cabin crew to sort it out. Luckily for them the flight was far from full, and they directed us to 52DEFG, which at least all have decent legroom. I can only wonder what would have happened if those seats were not vacant.

So my advice is to get this sorted out now, as the options available and extra stress of trying to sort it out at check-in, the boarding gate or on board is most undesirable from a passenger's perspective.I was very dissatisfied with the way my experience was handled. I had booked 80ABC about 11 months before travel date and had it whipped away upon boarding with no apology, just a statement that we had been moved. Hopefully Red Roo can sort it out for you long before you get to the airport.

This is just plain wrong. Please Qantas, this should not happen.

Hey Red Roo -- Qantas has made an error in this one...the couple are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary....give them an upgrade to J then all of us will be happy:)

Re: Seat reservation changed.

33J & 33K are not exit row seats.

There are other much more experienced people on this forum than me. So I hope they can give you some advice as to what you can do.

I have just flown 33A and 32K last week on the A380.

33AB or 33JK have the same legroom as a normal J seat. The advantage of the row 33 A380 seats are (a) the "hammock" under the seat in front of you that you can slip your legs into which makes it a little like a bed and (b) no one behind you to complain about you doing a maximum recline at any time during the flight.

The advantage of 32AB or 32JK is that there is no one to recline into you. The legroom is adequate for an average sized person. I was able to put my legs up onto the side bins which helps to stretch out.

All A and K seats have under window storage bins which are just fantastic.

I would call those "restricted leg room seats". When most males cannot fully extend their legs in Qantas bulkhead seats but can in a regular seat (albeit under the seat in front), I don't see how QF could call them anything else. Except maybe "seats for short people". ;)

Incidentally QF side bulkhead seats have less room than side bulkhead seats on many other airlines, most of which don't charge for them. I sighted TG's on the 777-300 yesterday and they have much more room. TG don't charge for exit rows (where I sat for free), other seats with no seat in front, or bulkheads.

I guess that's fine if you can get an exit aisle or a bulkhead row on TG but when I flew on a TG 777-200 BNE/BKK recently I noticed all the window or aisle seats in standard rows have the ife box sitting horizontally under the seat in front of you which would be problematic for people with long legs.

The middle "B" "E" or "J" seats are fine though.

The pics below are row 50 on the Thai 772.

Re: Seat reservasidetion changed.

It's a nice throw away line, but staff do not have the ability to 'help out' other staff. All of the passenger movements and loading are centrally controlled, and whilst what you infer may have happened in years past, it most certainly does not today.
We will have to disagree on that one. Staff help out friends and family and there is nothing stopping them helping other staff.

Agreed. OBB's second photo clearly shows feet against the bulkhead, without shoes on and legs not fully extended and no seat recline. This is restricted!

Re: Seat reservation changed.

I expect you really mean "normal Y seat".

Yes, thanks. That's what I meant. I have J on the brain at the moment.

None of my upgrade requests came through on those flights but the CSM on the return trip did invite me up to the lounge at the front of the top deck, provide me with an amenities kit and PJs together with a delightful Shiraz.

By way of update, I've requested passenger details via private message and hope to have the matter resolved with the OP asap.

Every time I read a post by you Red Roo, I feel grateful that you are there for AFF members but can't help but feeling a little disappointed for those who are not. It shouldn't be such a struggle!

Hi! Don't have enough posts yet to send a PM - so I will post a few comments to qualify!

I'm glad you are sorting this out Red Roo.
Its not much of a Golden Wedding Anniversary present.

I couldn't agree more - until I found help on the forum, especially with Re Roo I felt so helpless and if nothing changes with Qantas, I have at least had sympathy and consideration from this forum. Many thanks
