Hi
We are looking to fly AKL-GLA around 30 May 26. Then return around 26 June
The QF website basically makes you fly EK. The cheapest option by far. If I choose QF1, its an extra $1900 AND
  • Your flight from Auckland to Sydney will be in Economy.
  • Your flight from Sydney to London (Heathrow) will be in Economy

  • ,I rang QF and they said there were seats and I must be looking at the wrong website. I am not able to book yet due to work, but its frustrating seeing the QF system back to its bad old ways.
Can anyone tell me if there is J avaialability on QF1 30 May?
Can anyone remind me of the flight availability thread

I'm still keen to make the most of my subscription after stumping up for it

Wow and its an $8k business flex fare for that AKL-GLA leg … crazy given @flyingfan’s post showing J availability.

Thanks for the help . So I can pay 8k, sit in Y, not even PE and hopefully get a warm greeting by the CSM. Safe in the knowledge that QF are keeping J seats spare for an emergency. At least we can enjoy the luxury of LHR-GLA in the glamorous BA infra-Europe J. Or fly on EK via QF. Or start looking for airlines that don’t seem to take the piss.

From GLA wikipedia EK, BA & KLM are the QF partner airlines that fly into GLA

EDI to GLA about 50 miles.
For EDI you have AA (via the long way), BA, AF, AY, EK, QR & IB that are QF partner airlines

Have you looked at QR Qatar AKL-DOH-EDI?
Or a non QF partner airline? Select on schedule & price.

At the silly prices above you could be looking at a RTW ticket in business.
Such a simple route a real bricks & mortar travel agent should not be needed. But may be worth the fee.

Do you feel very strongly about EK? Because they do fly direct DXB-GLA so it's a more straightforward itinerary if you're happy to fly them.

Personally I'd probably go SQ but if you're using OW/QF points or chasing status that obviously won't suit.

I am in the planning phase. We thougt we might use the QF DSC promotion, so that only works on QF metal.
But it is becoming more tempting to break the golden handcuffs.
I am not a fan of EK old 777 J class with angle seats. But DXB-GLA is scheduled for a A380. I could sit in the bar then get off in GLA like a local
