Hi,

I learnt about seat alerts and expert flyer on this forum and have been trying eve since to set up a seat alert for my trip in July.

It's just not happening.

Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong? I'm trying to get one set up for the LAX/AKL leg of the trip in July on QANTAS and for New York to F/Furt on Singapore in March.

Many thanks
Eden

Are you having trouble setting one up - or just not getting alerts - a lack of alerts might indicate a lack of seats.

Setting one up. I opened an account with Expert Flyer and it keeps giving me error messages.

are the error messages saying anything specific ?

perhaps e-mail their support - customercare@expert......

they are very responsive

Seat Alerts are for notifying you when a specific seat or type of seat becomes available. If the specific seat or any of a type of seat are already available then you cannot set an alert for it. If you need more help please email us at customercare@ with the specific flight, error message, and what seats you are trying to create an alert for.

Sorry to re-hash an old thread.

But, is anyone having much success with Seat Alert notifications.

I have set up seat alerts for domestic QF flights where the seats were blocked. I checked today and sure enough QF had released the seats, but I'd never recieved a Seat Alert email from expertflyer?

And just to be sure, before I selected the seat i wanted, I checked expertflyer.com and sure enough it was available on their system too?

Has anyone received an alert successfully?

When you checked the seat map on ExpertFlyer, what did you see?

Thanks for the quick response.

I had set up an alert for 1A,1C,1D,1F.

When I logged in to QF it showed 1A,1C occupied/blocked and 1D,1F available.

When I logged into EF it showed 1A blocked, 1C occupied, 1D available and 1F blocked.

My QFF number is logged into EF.

Since you didn't email support, and don't know who you are, we can't check your alert, but either you didn't add Blocked seats to the Seat Alert, or you found the seat before the alert did. You could easily check the latter by running a Quick Check on the alert and if it noted it found a seat, it would just be a matter of time before you got the email.

You're right, I didn't email support. I asked this community for their experience with your product, I didn't need a cut and paste customer service email stating "we can only show what the airline show us blah blah blah".

i didn't add blocked seats as they're not available. But your probably right about the other point, I found 1D available before the seat alert did, that highlights my question - What's the point of the alert? I wasnt alerted. I found it. When does the alert check? Daily? Weekly?

The reason to email us is to know who you are, so we can look at the alerts in your account, specifically, when they exactly last checked for seat inventory.
The alert system checks several times a day at least, more so as the date of departure gets closer. The point of the alert is that it checks when you don’t. Most people just set it and forget it. In your case you happened to find the seat before the next check of the alert, that’s great, but that’s usually not the case.

Hi there

I have a free account only, trying to set up a Seat Alert for a seat that is currently shown as BLOCKED.

I did select "treat blocked seat as available" and then selected one seat that I liked by using the option "select specific seat".

When I selected "purchase" for $0.99, it says ERROR "must specify one or more seat" when the seat I liked already had a blue underline below it.

The problem is I cannot underline any other seat, Blocked or Vacant or Occupied.

What should I do ?

If you want to set a Seat Alert for a Blocked seat, then you don't want the system to treat it as available, you want it to be treated as unavailable so you will be alerted when it changes from Blocked to Available.

Thanks for the nice tip.

I misunderstood the meaning of the "Blocked Seat" option.

It worked.

All I can do now is waiting for the alerts to arrive in time for me.
