Search Engines Usefulness

Hi folks,

Just sitting here reading the Sunday papers....

Came across a mention of some search engines that I was not aware of...eg

FlightStats - Global Flight Tracker, Status Tracking and Airport Information
KVS Availability Tool: Global Flight Availability, Award Availability, Fares, Timetables, Seat Maps
Flight Availability | Upgrades | Frequent Flyer Information
www.google.com/flights

If anyone AFF member has had any experience with these sites - would appreciate any feedback

depends what you want to use them for.

flightstats is not much use for award tickets.

the other two are. but you would want to see what free tools are available before paying for anything.

if you are looking at star alliance awards for example, you can use free tools such as United.com.

if looking for oneworld awards you can use several different award tools like BA.com, asiamiles, QF etc to piece together what you need.

I have never paid for an availability tool. For my travel i don't need to. but YMMV

Flightstats is a nice free way at getting fare bucket availability info, I use it a lot, it was this info that made me use my EY credentials on a recent flight knowing Y was oversold, with a resultant ODU eventuating!
