I am in the middle of a DONE4 to achive WP by 30 November. I flew SYD-LAX on Saturday and the SCs were credited to my account by the time I arrived at LAX. However the SCs for my AA flight from LAX to SFO on Sunday, which was under a QF codeshare, have not yet appeared in my account.

In the past I haven't worried about the timing of these however I only have a small window in which to make WP. Should I lodge an online claim with QF for missing SCs or, given that it has only been 36 hours since the flight, should I wait a little longer for the SCs to credit?

You need to wait up to a week for partner flights to post, and that includes QF codeshares, since you are relying on the partner airline sending the details to QF.

I think you are safe to wait for a few days. Points post to AA up to 10 days after travel. If QF are dependent on AA it migth be done as a batch on a Sunday.

Thanks NM. I have the boarding pass as a record and my TA says she entered my QF details so it should be OK... I'll wait until I get back to SYD before lodging a claim if necessary.

Thank you simongr. Just keen on that WP... ;)

Does the boarding pass show the QFF number? does your FF status show properly on the boarding pass? If so, then it is unlikely to be a problem - although I am sure some people will have stories about it still not posting even with the number showing.

If the boarding pass does not show your FF number and status, then the chances of it not posting are greatly increased.

No my FF number/status does not appear on the boarding pass. I was worried about that. However I can't see a place for it to appear on the boarding pass, and my printed itinerary (from my TA) lists my FF number against the flights in the "Loyalty Programs" section.

Also I would note that the points do not need to post by 30Nov
They will retrospectively post as on the date of the flight and at that time you will be credited with WP.

In June I had 6 AA flights, they posted between 3 and 5 days afterwards:

Posted 12 JUN 07
-09JUN07
-09JUN07
-08JUN07

Posted 15 JUN 07
-10JUN07
-10JUN07
-10JUN07

Note these were flown under the actual AA flight number.

Assuming the boarding pass is printed on the usual AA boarding pass card, then the FF number usually appears directly below the passenger name on the stub side of the boarding pass, as "QF xx_xx_X EMD". The OneWorld status usually appears on the bottom of the stub section (such as EMERALD or SAPPHIRE etc) and under the seat number on the main section of the boarding pass.

OK well none of that is on the boarding pass. I'll be back at SFO tomorrow to check in for a flight from SFO to LAX - is there any point in me showing the boarding pass to someone at AA check-in to see if they can sort out the FF number or should I lodge a claim with QF?

No. AA cannot do anything for you now. Wait a week and if its not posted, send details to Qantas FF. And when you check-in for your next flight, ask the check-in agent to make sure your FF details are correctly in the system and check that it is printed on the boarding pass before you leave the check-in counter.

Now I think this is interesting. When checking in at AA for the flight from SFO-LAX (the return of the one that I originally queried) I asked the check-in agent to confirm whether my FF number was in the booking for the original flight I had taken two days earlier. She said it was not and that she would put it in but that it would do nothing because it had to be in there within 24 hours of flying in order to credit the SCs. Then the next day the SCs for that original flight appeared on my statement.

So either the check-in agent was wrong and my FF number was in the original booking, or else she was wrong and the act of updating the booking even though it was more than 48 hours since the flight did actually cause the SCs to credit. Also of interest is that she had to enter my FF in before printing the boarding pass for the sector that I was checking in for, but she couldn't get my FF number to print on the boarding pass.

Lastly...I was counting on getting 60 SCs for each of LAX-SFO and SFO-LAX. This was based on Mileage Monkey and the fact that I was on a two-class service in First, my boarding pass said "FIRST" and other information I had read on this forum to this effect. However QF has credited me only 40 SCs for the first flight and the second one is yet to appear. The entry on the statement refers to "Business", viz "QF3243 Business". It seems they are treating this flight as, and crediting SCs based on, a business seat. Is that right?

If you were on a business class ticket and went on the QF codeshare, then you would have been booked in a business class inventory rather than first. On the 2 class somestic services, AA only sells 1st and economy whilst QF has 1st class and business class inventories ( both of which seat in the 1st class cabin ) plus economy

It spossible that the agent got the details in just in time. It seems that AA processes via a batch process every few days, so it may have made it into the system before the batch sweep of flight from the last few days. This would explain the variation in times for posting to QF.

And as Dave said, if you book a J or D seat on the QF codeshare, then you travel in the F cabin but earn J SCs and FF points.

Doh! My TA said that QF insisted on her changing the AA bookings to QF codeshares. Thanks guys. I will now be 80 SCs short of reaching WP at the conclusion of this DONE4 but I'll be able to make that up.

QF may prefer you to fly on QF , but the choice of who you travel on is up to you on a DONE4. QF seems to enjoy inventing its own rules rather than following the published rules; booking using the AA ATW desk is so much simpler and you wont get stung in this way

Yet another case of QF scr3wing over the punters. My annoyance with QF on this is growing daily!
