SCs for ODU to star class?

I distinctly remember there was a thread about this but can't find it now.

Does anyone know if JCL SCs will be earned for the $300 upgrades to Star Class at check in for JQ flights?

And no I'm not the one flying, before you all panic...

I too remember this being reported as the case. Don't have the time to locate the specific post(s) however.

When I checked in for my "To Venice of the East with No Frills" trip, I was informed that I would earn full status credits for the $300 ODU by the CSA. Unfortunately I didn't take up the offer (or I would have made Gold this year) so I can't validate.

I did the ODU to StarClass both ways on a return trip recently.
Earned Business Class Status Credits and Points on the international segments.
Earned no SC's nor points for the Brisbane to Sydney segment, posted as JETSAVER, even though I had the same flight number, single boarding pass and same seat all the way through. I will chase this up with QFF.
The price isn't always $300, it can go lower.
The upgrade must be paid for in local currency.
