A friend of mine is currently in Spain and trying to get to New York at the end of the month. The Finnair ticket which he has from LHR-HEL-JFK has turned out to be a lot less flexible than expected so he is looking at just scrapping that booking altogether.

So here's the challenge: Whats the cheapest way to get from SCQ to JFK flying anytime between the 24/01/08 and 04/02/08. Overnight stays in London or Dublin are free because of family and ryanair is the only airline to avoid (15Kg baggage allowance).

So far the cheapest I have found is $466.90 for SCQ-MAD-DUB-JFK with an overnight stay in Dublin. However someone on this board may know of a cheaper option.

Thanks in advance.

I enjoyed your challenge but couldn't get it below $469 which I suspect is identical to what you found (SCQ-MAD-DUB-JFK on IB/CO).

Paying $470 to fly just under 4400 miles is pretty good value, especially considering that the published, one-way QF whY fare SYD/BNE is $430!

Thanks guys.

NYCguy, you're exactly right; I know I've paid a LOT more for much shorter distances. It was just good to confirm that it was the best out there.
