Scotland 2018 Planning

One of my favourite travelling memories is staggering around Edinburgh 2am in the morning in the family tartan kilt and no one even looking sideways. Had a conference there 2014, and the gala dinner was "for the kilt"! I know odd, but with a Scottish background full of single malt, a night to behold......

LOL. Not all of us are 24 anymore 'aye wee jimmy". :)

I haven't been 24 for 30 odd years, that was the fun of it; a few old buggers in kilts actually knowing what good scotch tastes like.......

There's a decent pub across the road from the DoubleTree and the guys there know their scotch pretty well, they have a pretty good selection too :)

Was planning on seeing the Kelpies one night, as I believe they are lit up.

Wasn't sure about the Falkirk wheel, although I think Roo Flyer mentioned it before.

Work is getting in the way of me looking at maps and planning.

Starting to plan and do you think 2 nights in Aberdeen is ok?

Things I plan on seeing so far:

Depart Edinburgh to Aberdeen
Arbroath Abbey
Aberlemno Stones
Maison Dieu Chapel
Donnattar Castle
Drum Castle
Cathes Castle
maybe Balmoral Castle

just hope you don't come down with the ABC syndrome (Another Bloody Castle). I usually plan by pubs......

I told hubby that Im going to order one of those car magnet signage things with his name for the hire car with "Not another bloody castle tour" on it. And a couple of tshirts. Ive done similar before so he knows Im going to do it.

But this makes him happy so at some point I'll park myself under a tree with a camp chair and tell him to come back in a hour or two.

We will be heading to Dufftown/Glenfiddith after the first few days of castles.

Don't forget The Scottish National Trust. Might be worth joining. We did and are currently using the reciprocal rights to visit English gardens and properties.

Realised yesterday that my spreadsheet was missing 2 days so I now have 2 extra days to use so thinking we might spend one day exploring Inverness/Highlands more.

Is it worth driving all the way to John O'Groats for the photo op?
