Thanks for your TR - I'm really enjoying it!
Would you daughter sleep in a cot as they are usually free? You could always remove the mattress and put in on the floor to save some $$$

This is becoming exciting now - when does the riot break out?

(I have often considered this Parkroyal but have never been quite convinced to book it.)

If there was a riot I missed it.
I certainly don't want to portray the Indian traveller as rude and inconsiderate based on this single experience.
But jeeze they make it tough.
Pushing past to get into lifts and doors ahead of us. Not letting us out lifts before they try to get in.

To be honest all my interaction with people from India has been superb, so this was an eye opener.

As for the ParkRoyal I guess it depends what you're looking for. If you want Little India it would be handy. It's right next to the metro which is good.

We picked it due to budget more than anything else. I would prefer I think to stay in the CBD though.

I really, really, really hate shower over bathtub. Im now selecting hotels with rooms without these death traps.

Does Scoot charge extra for the exit row?

Ive seen AirAsia CSM come up to a pax who had moved to an exit row with a CC machine and say, you can sit here but you need to pay an extra $x.

Pax moved.

When I've flown Scoot I've paid a few extra $s for the Scoot-in-silence section, kid free (obviously not suitable for OP) and generally lightly loaded, and up front.

Yeah I literally just got out of it now and I agree. Not a fan.

We're heading off to the night safari now. Will see if my phone can get any decent pics.

Hah, welcome to my world. I live very close to where you are staying, and yes it can be tough, especially with those not used to travelling outside of India. On the other hand most of the Indians who live in my Condo, have lived here long enough to pick up some of the social norms. But for the staff it can be quite a a bit of fun, telling people to go to the back of the line (if there is a semblance of line).

It can be disturbing what it does to you, one day lined up politely at SGN to go through airport security, I reached the front of the line, with about 20-30 people in the line, old mate from the subcontinent, walks straight up beside me to go through in front of me. I am normally meek and mild, but I felt the urge to block his way, which I did and a fellow traveller (stranger) also pointed out where the end of the line was ...

After all the check in palaver we had a little break in our room, before heading down to the pool for a swim.
The two pools, gym, and sauna are on level six.
A kids pool and a larger pool, which goes from 1.4m to 2m very steeply.

It's also in full sun for most of the afternoon which isn't ideal. But luckily there was a storm brewing so we didn't have to deal with the sun too much.

After the dip it was more or less time for dinner. Remember we need to eat earlier than normal due to child requirements.
There are of course plenty of Indian restaurants around the ParkRoyal so it was just a matter of picking one.
One of the more well regarded ones is Sankranti, just around the corner.

I'm sorry to say I don't have any actual pics of food, but I would definitely recommend Sankranti for a meal.
Cost us $80 for four dishes, garlic naan, and rice. Plus a drink for myself.
It was a little spicier than I had expected, which made it tough for the little one. But she is happy to eat plain rice and naan any day of the week anyway.

Post meal we simply walked back to the hotel, quickly showered the child and ourselves, and hopped into bed.
MissGM was still all over the shop from the plane ride, the hotel changeover, and everything else. So it took an hour or so for her to finally settle down.
By the time she did the wife and I were also pretty much buggered, so we called it a night as well.

I guess this is an option, but we long ago transitioned her into a "big girl' bed and figured it would cause more trouble than it's worth trying to move her backwards.

After a much needed sleep in on Tuesday breakfast was at Chye Seng Huat Hardware. It's a small menu augmented by various pastries and such.
The wife and child shared banana bread and a croissant.
I went for something different in the form of french toast with marmalade bacon, orange slices, pomegranete and ice cream.
No pics again I'm afraid but it was very nice. Used to french toast with maple bacon at home but this seemed very in keeping with Singapore.
Also had an iced mocha.

Another short walk back to the hotel, but it gave us the chance to see some different things again.

Took me a moment to realise these are actual house fronts.

I love the Peranakan architecture. The tiles are always amazing.

Head across to Racecourse Road in Little India for more Indian if you have the opportunity and inclination - Banana Leaf Apolo and Muthu's Curry are both quite delicious. The pizza is good (but quite expensive) at Osteria Pizzeria at MBS too. The food court at Ion on Orchard is quite good also. Plenty of good food in Singapore!!

Yes I did.
It's been brought forward by three hours. 1500 to 1200.
Again, no notification or idea when this happened.

That is seriously poor form by Scoot. And still enjoying the photos.

Ugh.
Just returned from a nice evening at Gardens by the Bay. Came back in taxi. Porter pulled pram from boot, I grabbed it off him, carried it upstairs, unfolded it... and the front wheel has come out and clearly been left in the cab.
The child knew straight away something was wrong and started wailing in that wy toddlers do when they think something truly awful has happened.
I didn't get a receipt. Why would you.
Been down to concierge to give details of company, fare paid, pick up and drop off locations and time, and the driver's name.
What are my chances of getting the wheel back?
We're going to the zoo tomorrow and having a pram is an absolute must.
Luckily we've calmed the child down and she understands we can fix whatever is wrong.

Now if you're game to try some local food, there's a popular place called Beach Road Scissor Cut Curry Rice just down the road from you (on corner of Jalan Besar). Place appears disgusting. Food looks revolting, but it is very popular and food is very tasty (looks are deceiving). And in Little India, the Tekka Centre (hawker centre) has quite good Biryani and for sweet tooths - really good Banana Prata.

MrsGM had a lengthy job interview lined up via phone from midday Tuesday, so it was my job to keep the child out of the way for a couple of hours.
Fortunately I had an excursion in mind - a trip to Sim Lim Square to buy an android tv box. Because I just don't watch enough international sport.
Before that I went down to the tour desk to book our tickets for the Night Safari :)
MissGM and I wandered across to the Farrer Park Station to jump on the MRT. A change of line at Little India, one more stop to Rochor and then it was just a matter of finding the right store, Amconics.
That was harder than I expected but after 15 minutes of walking around the joint we got there.
Bought my Minix box with 4 year subscription for $339, and the woman just needed half an hour or so set it up.
I figured the child had been so well behaved she deserved an icecream.

I wanted one too really.
And then back to collect my new gadget, on the train and back to the hotel.
It was well after 1pm and the wife's interview was still going, so child and I explored the hotel a little more. Checked out the gym and pool area, and the restaurant level. Nothing spectacular.
Not long after we got the all clear to return to the room and start planning for a late lunch!

Here is the new gadget that I am looking forward to installing this weekend.
