Just wondering, i know QF announced some services from SYD to SCL & EZE, does anybody know the start dates ? have they been put into OW timetables and or GDS's ?

I have also read a few comments about them being stoped before they even start, any confirmation on this ?

Here's the original press release for EZE:

About Qantas - Newsroom

Qantas announced today it would commence its first ever non-stop services to South America, with flights from Sydney to Buenos Aires* commencing on 24 November, 2008.

Qantas Executive General Manager, Mr John Borghetti, said the airline would operate three return services per week on the route.

Havn't heard anything since. Presume it's still on - especially if Qantas gets the plane deliveries they are expecting.

Not too sure about SCL, I thought they were leaving that for LAN to monopolise, but not entirely sure. Didn't they announce it, then remove it?

November still a bit far out to see it in most systems and timetables i guess. I would assume it must be one of the 6 ER's or the 3 ugly sisters on that route given the range.

You would assume one of the aircraft that is going to be replaced by a A380.

But don't try to book kanagaru in or out of eze on a circle fare... kangaru wouldn't hop for that one .. some lame excuse about originating out of eze not being pacific .. I think q make up new australia specific one world rules to suit themselves...

Only xCIR29SA can include South America - routing must by via N/A, S/A, SWP & Asia or the reverse.

Perhaps you were trying to book an xCIR22 or xCIR26, neither of which may include travel via South America.

I finalised my dcir29sa in a huge rush last month to beat the price rise.
It suited me better to fly Ush> Eze > au on qf instead of Ush> Scl>Akl>syd on Lan ( early feb 09)

Kangarau flatly refused ... caveat emptor.

I did win a bit because I have almost nil surcharge with my whole trip on LAN Paper

I have been on a steep learning curve the last few months .. one thing is for sure kangaru are the most difficult critters to manage..

If they were not our national carrier , I would be tempted to describe them in more cough terminology....
