The reason for the question is that I can find a B (or M) class SYD-PER segment if I want to fly SIN-PER (the long way round) (using the BA 15/16).

Would you earn full Y SC on the BA B class PER-SYD segment? Trying to decide if I want to keep my QF status.

On the domestic sectors, on a flight number that is not QF (in this case BA), you will need to be in 'Y' to get full economy SC. A BA flight number in 'B' or 'M' will be discount economy.

Many different opinions.

The terms and conditions are here, Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions

My opinion is that if it's a BA flight (codeshare, BA number perhaps) then BHY = Full Economy . If it's a Qantas flight (domestic) then BHKLMVY (except if operated by Jetstar) = Full Economy, per the terms. However, I've not had any first hand experience, so perhaps my understanding is wrong. If so, it's deceptively worded.

IME these rules only apply to points earning, so a BA codeshare on QF metal in B class will give 100% of the mileage in points (Economy) but only Discount Economy level of SCs. I also used to think that this applied to SC earning, but Qantas directed me to the fine print I quoted previously. In my case it was an AY flight in B class HEL-HKG, it gave me 100% mileage in points but Discount Economy SCs.

Just to give another example, all flights with LA earn full Economy points with QFF (http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/airline/lan), but only Y class will give you Economy SCs. I did SCL-GRU in S class and got 100% mileage but only 20 SCs (Y would give 40)

Alas the multiplicity of replies is why I asked...

I suspect the answer is whatever is most profitable for QF.
