SC Run to Sju anything to worry about?

(not looking forward to my overnighting at HNL landside next month though!)

No, I wouldn't do it. Honolulu is not a safe place.

Why not just get a cheap hotel in Waikiki for about $70? You can't be that hard up!

I have done this run 3 times now and personally would stay in the airport hotel. As for 7 hours in LAS that's a no brainer. Vegas is a 24 hour city - catch a cab in to the strip and enjoy it.

Best I can see is $109 2 miles away from the airport. By the time I get there after claiming bags, waiting for shuttle, checking in etc etc it would be almost midnight. With the QP opening at 5 and having to be at the airport by 0530, just not worth the hassle for me.

I'll have the Mr with me so we can take turns keeping a sentry if need be ;)

You must have never flown F in the USA (I've done around 10 Y flights in AA, and well over 100 F. Unless you get one of the re-fitted 757's or 767's, you're in old style F seats on a 737 even the new ones, or the MD80's).

Premium Economy on QF International is a lot better than any regular F on any US airline (With the exception of 3 class trans cons, and the few exceptions above).

Yeah because I make comments about products I know nothing about !!!

Of course ive flown it ... it is a huge step up vs Y

haha. Glad someone is.. I think I will sleep in the airport.. Will think it through some more. Also have 7 hours in LAS.. So yeah.. Could be an interesting trip report

There's practically no one who stays airside after the last flight comes in but they don't care if you stay airside. I have stayed airside briefly until a little after midnight to sit near the Admirals Club to use their wifi to finish some work off without any trouble (wasn't going to risk the hotel wifi being slow/not working). I did see one couple sleeping airside on my way out of the airport and then saw several people (5+) sleeping landside so I'd say this is pretty common every night.

drewbles, what does the F on refitted 757's and 767's compare to in Australia?
Similar to the new VA J seats; shell design with slanted lie flat. Quite comfortable! There should be some photos of it around:)

Well in that case we agree to disagree. I don't find a complimentary beverage and a slightly larger seat with a minimal seat pitch increase to be 'first class'.

Oh, and sarcasm duly noted. It was not a dig at you, merely assuming you may not have flown it. I don't know many who would consider it a substantial improvement.

Consider it business class and at meal times quite similar to QF domestic business. Compares to intra European j its a big improvement too.

Always happy to agree to disagree though.

I would say that in general, USA domestiv First/Business is a huge step up from USA Domestic economy.

But then again QF domestic economy is a huge step up from USA domestic Economy.

could someone PM me and tell me how to book one of the SJU status runs? what routing etc.. still very confused

I flew plenty of F in the USA doing SC runs when I was living there.

Even in an MD80, domestic F is a huge step up over Y. It's comparable with QF International Y+ in terms of seat size and pitch.
