SC & FF points earn when buying extra seat "for comfort"?

Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a comfort seat for just one leg of a journey (say MEL-DXB but not DXB-LHR)?

AFAIK the comfort seat needs to be attached to the original fare. probably just as cheap to price it right through than to DXB only?

Probably able to but you'll need to call the call centre. Keep in mind that a comfort seat will preclude you from exit rows and the like, as you need an adjustable armrest to be able to use both seats.

Only if they are a person of size. I can easily "use" 2 seats with fixed arm rests. ;)

Perhaps, but you're not going to be able to select seats and they're not going to sit you in an exit row if you have a comfort seat.

no reason why they shouldn't, particularly if you have paid the exit row fee if applicable. an extra seat for comfort doesn't necessarily imply any disability or that you are a passenger of size.

It generally does. Whenever I have one I don't get exit row. All other times I do. I'm talking QFLink here though.

It's a special request, akin to needing assistance. I'm not sure about you but I'd rather someone who needed assistance was not in charge of operating an exit.

At the airport this may be assessed differently of course, but can't see it being allowed online.

i have mever been abke to assign seat selections for extra comfort seats on line. they've had to be done through the call centre (with a request to the seating department). (it's done on the same call when you book the original seats)

it could in some cases be a request for assistance, but there are times when a pax is fully able. no reason for an exit row to be precluded... although if the extra seats are required because you want to spread out, I would agree... what's the point in having fixed armrests.

Sam, you're probably the 'expert' on this around here, or if anyone else knows please chime in, but what fare bucket does the comfort seat come out of? I'm guessing it'd just be the 'lowest available' fare at time of request? And are sale fares applicable? If it's just based on full Y, it's not such a great thing (was looking at doing something for my ADL trip just to get a bonus 40 SC's for a small extra amount; not that I need it, but every bit helps towards LTG).

it matches the fare of the paid seat, at least for discounted tickets.

I've had a comfort seat in row 3, not sure about seat selection as this was when VA just changed systems. But it is only assumption that says someone needs assistance if booking an exit row. Case in point I would book such a seat for comfort, ie a shadow, and extra SC. comfort does not mean I'm large, it just means I'm prepared to paid to not have someone sit next to me.

Re: Buying Two Y Seats Rather a single J Seat

To be clear about this, when checking in with a 'comforat seat' booking, are you given a separate boarding pass for each seat in to booking?

i.e. One for each PAX and one for any comfort seat.

You only get one boarding pass that will say Bloggs/Joe Mr EXST so pax may have 4E & EXST will be 4F. When pax scans their single boarding pass it's sufficient for both seats.

Re: Buying Two Y Seats Rather a single J Seat

You don't get a BP for your "friend" because taxes are not paid for him or her, *iss take.
Seriously, as Oz said, that is how QF does it.
Have done it ADL - SYD - WLG - MEL - ADL.
Keep your BP but for me, didn't need to send it in, (had copies), but the FF points and SC appeared for me and my mate in a few days.
Now if they could for the wavy dash, (4 eligible flights), I am not sure about that one.

The lack of boarding pass is not related to not paying taxes. It is because there isn't a passenger! A single person is perfectly entitled to buy an extra seat, but there is one boarding pass per passenger. An extra seat is simply annotated on that one boarding pass.

Has anyone received SCs for a QF comfort seat recently? Have been trying to organise one to get my wife some extra SCs but was told they only earn points. I can find references on here and ABT about them earning SCs, but difficult to find any other info from QF.
