Yes. I have been awarded 72 SCs for QF93 MEL to LAX, in J Classic Award (so U class). Which matches the table linked. I'm pretty happy with that SC earn rate (or any, really) for a Classic Rewards flight so thumbs up from me.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What day was your flight? Wondering how far they are backdating the credit..

The earning tables seem to have some routes though that you could read one of two ways

Say for example you were doing HEL-DOH-SIN-SYD. GCMapper has this as 10,496miles so in the table that can be read as 64 SC in U

or 112SC in U

It was 03/03, so perhaps to the start of the month?
Thanks, good to know.
Guessing you had it post as 0 points and 0 SC within a few days of the flight, to only have a second entry within the last day or so with just the SC only?

The problem is you can't book HEL-DOH-SIN on a QF flight number so won't earn SC on those legs, only SIN-SYD.

Otherwise a multi-leg award on QF metal - with less than 24 hour stopover in each city - will be the best way to extract value. The award will be priced based on total distance but the SC should credit per leg.

Great question, I didn't even think to check this and now that I have, I can see that the new entry has replaced the 0 SC, 0 points entry from before. Both descriptions are identical but I no longer have the original entry which was previously logged on the day of departure. The reason I know this is the case is because I record the transactions in google docs where I can see the entry from 03/03, but in my account statement on the QF site it's not longer there and the SC award entry is from 16/03

Thanks. Only reason why I ask is that my flight from a couple of days ago has posted in line with a normal time frame, but the ones from last week are still in their original 0 points and 0 SC entry and not been replaced like yours from the start of the month.
Odd that the system has "skipped" last week's flights but who knows how the system works - by member, date, both, other.

A Google docs entry is dedication!

Interesting that for travel in J, the SC earn rate is better for shorter flights, eg:
MEL-SYD: 1 SC per 1,150 points
MEL-PER: 1 SC per 1,297 points
MEL-SIN: 1 SC per 1,425 points
MEL-LAX: 1 SC per 1,506 points.

Good incentive to use points to fly domestic J more.

The SC earn rates are a bit better in economy, esp. on longer flights. PE is much worse.

Nothing for me... and I'm showing as Points Club Plus!

The sweet spot is actually in the 750-1200mi zone if you're looking at single legs

But the real value here is going to be in some crazy domestic multi-leg awards. As an example - if one was to fly HBA-MEL-SYD-BNE-CNS-TSV (with no more than 24h in each city) they'd be looking at ...

HBA-MEL 383mi 16 SC
MEL-SYD 438mi 16 SC
SYD-BNE 467mi 16 SC
BNE-CNS 862mi 24 SC
CNS-TSV 176mi 16 SC
Total 88 SC

... for 41500 points, or 472 points per SC.

I look forward to seeing the creativity of some members once air travel returns to normal!

I am wondering if the system calculate at which point in time you became Points club member in this membership year, and only from this date your classic rewards would start to earn SC. In other word, the date is different for each member.

I feel as though because I've qualified for PP+ (by a couple of weeks) even though I had some classic award flights in December which would qualify, I didn't receive the SC as it hasn't registered that at that time I would have been a PP member.

My retrospective classic award SC only arrived late last night so they may still be processing them.

I see Points Club on my QFF profile now, with 1250 points to retain Points Club. I presume it started on March 1 for me as I last flew on Feb 26 to close out my membership year. Having several tours cancelled and refunded, these re-purchases will go on the Qantas credit card. I don’t think I will be chasing Points Club points directly, but if I earn through normal spending, that’s a bonus. The few extra SC on reward flights could make the difference too. Many of us have been “that” close to the next level at times. As Points Club Plus, the ability to roll over up to 100 excess status credits is a real benefit.

Now to look into the T&Cs of “purchases” for exact requirements. Such as, because I am WP, I won’t receive the lounge passes when I earn them “ because WP have lounge access already”. I always pass on the lounge passes to my mother or son to use, so that’s not fair.

Evidently Frequent Flyer is profitable for Qantas. Qantas must think this scheme will be too.

I was a lucky beneficiary of this.

I was 15 SCs short of a loyalty bonus. Had a J award flight SYD-ADL a week ago, got retrospective credits for it (18SCs) and got a bonus 50SCs I otherwise wouldn't have qualified for this year.

On top of that, I only qualified for the Points Club by 53 points.. (150053 this membership year)!

Does anyone know if you would earn status credits as a Points Club member for an award booking made with another frequent flyer program, such as a Qantas flight booked using Avios or Asia Miles?

I note that the Qantas website says you would earn as long as your QFF number is added to the booking. That should be possible, even if you booked using another FF program.

Qantas website said:
Status Credits will only be earned on Classic Flight Rewards if the flight is marketed or ticketed as ‘QF’, if the member is a Points Club or Points Club Plus member at the time of flying, and if the member’s Qantas Frequent Flyer number is added to the booking.

I guess it should as long as your QFF number is in the booking. I once redeemed AA miles for MEL to PER and upgraded to J with QFF points in the lounge so I guess they had to put my QFF number in the booking.

Do we now know the answer to this question? I have an ADL-CBR U-class flight booked with avios coming up shortly, and the SC's would be very handy in getting to 100 SC's in the current Qantas Status Fast Track offer. I do have my Qantas FF No. in the booking.
