Is it possible to save individual posts , I am aware of subscribing to threads but there are certain posts that I would like to save .
My memory is not great at the best of times !:)

Use Evernote... As you make the note it stores the URL in the background so you can get back to the right place in the thread if need be.

That doesn't help if an administrator/moderator has their way with said post.

On Windows: Edit / Quote post, Ctrl+A, CTRL+C, open Wordpad, CTRL+V, Save( /As) ..., then cancel the edit/quote post.

Shouldn't really matter as you have the content of the post in Evernote.

Evernote goes one step further than Notepad and automatically associates the source URL with the note. This means you can get back to the source easily, and without having to copy/paste the URL separately.

Fair enough, however your post only specifically indicated the URL was stored, not the content.

FWIW, I have never seen Evernote myself so I did not know more than what you posted.

Re reading my post I see what you mean ;)

Evernote was my thought on seeing the original query. I recommend it most highly. I use it to backup diverse computer things and to have material accessible across all of my devices. Invaluable for storing those instructions you get on signing up to a new scheme.

One great feature is the ability to forward emails to Evernote and have them filed directly into a specific notebook. I've set up one for my upcoming trip and just forward a copy of everything that's relevant.
