Saving fuel surcharge [little YQ on QFF classic awards on EK] ...

Now that QF and EK have harmonised fuel surcharges I thought I would have a look at the respective charges for SYD-CDG (one way in Y) award. If you fly both legs EK the taxes/charges are $313.13, but if QF/EK the sum rises to $426.39. This isn't quite harmony but it's certainly better than SYD-DFW-CDG (QF/AA) which is now $581.59 in charges. Of course QF hasn't closed all the loopholes: SYD-LAX-JFK (QF) now has charges of $463.79 but SYD-DXB-JFK (EK) is only $333.13. For those with the time you can still save a few dollars........until QFF comes up with some more harmony.
