Trying to book a redemption to get away to sin
Just noticed from adl to sin saver awards are now 62000 miles each way.
Looked up my last redemption flight back in 2020 and the same saver was only 30380 each way.
Have i missed something from being out of the loop since covid? Or is this the new normal?

This prompted me to look up SQ redemption chart on their web site, and "View the Singapore Airlines Award Chart" now seems to point to "Advantage" rates. This is definitely new! The same link used to open their Saver chart. It seems I can no longer find a link to their Saver chart (no readily anyway, I have not dug deep in their site).

Their Calculator shows 65,000 KF for ADL-SIN, which is what you've been quoted. I guess you should be thankful they're not charging you based on their "chart", i.e. 90,000!!

Edit: I just noticed on the link that Saver chart is on the 2nd page. Duh!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Friends are going to SIN ex PER for this very reason. For 30 odd thousand there was quite a bit of availability last week.

That wasn't a spontaneous escapes promotion you booked at the time? That's a 51% discount off the current rate, which is an odd number, but from time to time they did have discounts.

Edit: Here you go, didn't take long to work this one out, it was 60760 return ADL-SIN in J, info courtesy of a certain forum 🤣

I dont think it was a spontaneous escape promo
Looking back on my emails, i have a few other redemptions from 2018 and 2019 and they have all been around the 30k miles mark for J adl to sin

I think previously Adl was lumped with Per and Drw which was cheaper but now Adl is lumped with the East Coast cities, hence the higher points requirement.

ADL was moved east (into Zone 9) well before 2018 and 2019. I saw a pre-2017 chart where ADL was already lumped in with East Coast.

The timing and the points amount, being exactly 1/2 the amount of the return that the @Coops1 quoted on 16th Jan 2020, all suggest that is indeed a Spontaneous Escape booking. FWIW, SQ points charts have never been granular enough to have a figure ending in 380, always 1000 or 500 (in fact 380 is a number that also very much suggests promo to me). Maybe when there was a 15% discount for online bookings, but that discount as long since disappeared.
