What do you see as the benefits @Daver6

I’ve skimmed the site and I’m curious to know the features you see as being of greatest value?

Honestly, nothing is probably worth the value, especially in Australia. I like the flight alerts you get which are most useful in the US with connecting flights. Ie, you land on an inbound flight and receive a text/email/push alert with your next departure and gate number. Also useful for flight delay alerts. Probably not really worth the money to be honest.

I got suckered in by the discount and being EOFY so can claim it soon. I've got a US work trip next month which was also front of mind. I've tried using the seat tracker but its a bit naff.

Actually, the most useful thing is any trip I create will automatically be shared with MrsDaver6 as a viewer. It's simple enough to do manually though, but being automated is one less thing to remember.

Like Daver6 I let my Pro subscription lapse and I was thinking of re-subscribing, so might take this, thank-you.

I like the product - can put all one's trip details in one place and the flight alerts have worked well for me.

I use it religiously for recording and tracking trips but I’ve never paid for Pro. During Covid, they gave me comp Pro for most of last year but obviously didn’t get to benefit that much.

I've been using the free TripIt since (i'm guessing) 2007. I have all the travel history in the app.

For our recent RTW trip I stumped up for the Pro version as the free version has a limit of 3 'attachments'. When we left had 12 flights, 13 hotel bookings. The pro version allowed me to attached up to 25 attachments which made all of my travel plans and confirmations available in the app. I installed the app on Mrs Albatross phone & the iPad. Logging in using my credentials I had all the details available on each device.

We did see the baggage claim numbers and a few connection info but even in Europe it wasn't consistently available.

As the trip continued I also uploaded entry tickets, museum bookings, boat tix, trains etc. I had to delete the earlier attachments but I always had the right tickets in the right place when asked.

The attachments feature for me did away with a lot of pain.

Used to have free pro with a work concur account, as mentioned the live updates are more useful for international flights.

Still use the free version as a great tool for storing trip details / itineraries in one place.

Received an email offering an annual subscription for $29 with this promo code LD2023R1
With the 25 x attachments you get with TripIt Pro - I assume this is separate from flight, accommodation, and event bookings?
Is there a limit on bookings per trip?
How many people can the info be shared with?
Do the bookings include address and contact phone numbers / emails etc

Really not sure about any of these. Main reasons for pro for me are the flight change alerts and automatically sharing my trips with MrsDaver6

I've found hotel and flight bookings contain all the info that's in the emails that have been scraped. You can obviously also add stuff manually.

I've not encountered any limits with bookings per trip but I don't know if there is an upper limit.

My read from Pricing - TripIt Pro vs. free features included with TripIt is that the 25 attachments is separate from the bookings per trip. I've never actually added an attachment to be honest. What sort of attachments are people adding?

The attachments go on of your plan items (flight, accommodation etc). You can't attach it to the trip itself.

I don't think so, I've had two month long trips with multiple plans per day and never came to a limit. I doubt there would be one.

Obviously unlimited if you send them static copies. If you use the invite function, I'm not sure. Probably more than you would need.

Yes heaps of fields for those and they should populate depending on the booking email. You can plot on google maps and get directions, it's really useful.

For me, it would be the high quality interactive airport maps (including step by step walking directions). Yes, they are the same maps you get on AA but they only have the US maps - TripIt gets you the maps globally (where they exist) and include some Aussie ones like BNE, MEL, PER, OOL etc. Not SYD unfortunately.

Bookings per trip - none (practically)

Note it's not just flight bookings and hotels, but any activity (they call it a 'plan') you might have on a trip, whether or not its been booked. You might put "Uber to conference centre" and a time, as a place marker to remind you how that's going to happen. If you are on a tour, you might put in five activities during each day of the tour, with times. I used to often put in things like "Call office" at certain times while overseas, again as a prompt.

Its a good long term planning tool too - to remind you if there are days that don't look right scheduling-wise.

Other info
While you can get the basic fields populated by sending the itinerary to plans@...... , you can also populate a 'plan' manually from scratch and there are lots and lots of different fields. I use the 'notes' to remind myself of the rate to be charged and what inclusions there are.

I've also never added an attachment in all the years I've used the app. @Daver6 I guess it might be things like an eVisa, vax certificate - the app trying to be 'useful'?

PS: Flighty
If you are contemplating getting TripIt Pro, then also think about getting the Flighty app. Its brilliant. You can link the two and Flighty updates instantly after you enter TripIt details. Although glitches do occur. See the thread Flighty app

The other TripIt feature I like (don't need pro) is viewing the TripIt calendar as part of my Google calendar.

Anyway to load this into a current subscription for the next renewal?

I think you'd need to cancel your current subscription/auto-renew and then renew again. I do know cancelling doesn't cut the end date short. However, I'm not 100% sure who re-subscribing will go if it hasn't expired. I guess you have nothing to lose, right?
