So I have a MEL - SYD - MEL same day itinerary coming up (on a Sunday) and some lounge passes to use.
Given the flight is early out of MEL I don't much fancy getting up earlier just to use the lounge, but I will have some time on arrival into SYD.

According the Ts&Cs:
In order to access the lounge, Single Entry Guests must provide at the reception desk of the lounge on the day of their departure:

(i) satisfactory proof of identity (e.g. a driver's licence);
(ii) their same day onward Virgin Australia itinerary or boarding pass; and
(iii) their Membership Card or their Single-Entry ticket (whichever is applicable).

So theoretically if I have my boarding pass for the return leg, on arrival into SYD I should be able to access the lounge for some breakfast.

Anyone tried this? Might get some funny looks but seems like it fits within the terms.

You will arrive at the lounge with a boarding pass for an onward flight on the same day. Why would you get a funny look?

P.S: I have not used the new digital single passes, but I hear you have to register them online before you get to the lounge. If this is the type of passes you have, you may want to look into how to use them without any hassle on the day.

P.P.S: what I said regarding boarding passes applies to QF only. VA’s are loaded in your Velocity profile.

Don't show them your previous boarding pass. Just show the onward flight back to MEL and you'd be fine. To use the lounge pass, my experience was just to swipe your velocity card.

The lounge passes are not digital so no problem there (ANZ Travel Adventures).

The funny looks might come from entering the lounge at 8:30am with a boarding pass for 10 hours later on the same day. They'll probably just think I don't have any sort of life :rolleyes:

On more than one occasion when I was on the last flight out of OOL (around 9pm I think), I rocked up to the lounge first thing in the morning for breakfast! I had been staying at a hotel within walking distance and it was either walking to the shops or the lounge for breakfast :)

My plan is similar however using the Amex platinum to enter for a same day flight.

Just to get a take away coffee and a quick bite before I hit the town for meetings
