Safari on iPad crash when reading AFF

So the ones having this problem are mostly non-financial members?

It would appear so, but I also didn't experience a problem when logged on on my iPad that wasn't running the latest version of iOS (8.1 versus 8.1.1) so I'm not sure if it's a website issue or a software issue to be honest. Bit of both?

It's happening to me also on my iPad 4 running IOS 8.0.2. Started on Monday night 2 days ago. Also took 5'attempts to post this as it kept refreshing the page.

It's just unusable. Anything more than 20 words and it crashes.

While I'm glad I'm not experiencing the problems, I hope the information provided here by those that are leads to a prompt fix so they can continue participating

I still can't replicate the problem on my iPad Air, running the latest version of iOS. Could all those who are experiencing the problem PM me with
a) iPad Model and OS
b) Viewing AFF as guest or user? If user, are you a paid member?
c) what happens and anything obvious which causes it to happen
d) frequency of occurrence

Maybe it's related to the old fashioned Z-Layer Windows 3.1 style scrolling popup that invites one to subscribe to the newsletter? This triggers after about 20 seconds does it not?

Problem is only on Safari - works ok on Chrome.

Thanks to all those who have PMed me and who have posted the details of the problems they are experiencing.

I haven't been able to replicate the problem consistently. (My iPad does occassionally crash when viewing AFF, but nowhere near as frequently as some are reporting.)

Given that it seems to be a recent problem, I suspect something in iOS 8+ is interfering with something in AFF. Probably the ads, as no paid member has reported the problem. Perhaps one of the ads we are currently displaying has something in the code which is causing the problem.

The only other recent change was the new feature added last week. See HERE. I have temporarily disabled this feature. Please advise me if you are still getting the problem.
(Note: This feature was not causing the problem and has been re-enabled. See my later post.)

Suggestions:
1. Upgrade your membership
2. Use Chrome
3. View AFF in Mobile Mode. See image below which indicates where you can switch to Mobile Mode.

Finally, just to be clear, this problem only seems to effect unpaid members, viewing AFF on an iPad with iOS 8+, in Safari. If you don't use this setup you should not be effected.

Looks like the problem is not related to the "Get Notified" function, so it has now been re-enabled.

If you are experiencing this problem, please download Chrome and it to view AFF on your iPad until be can find a fix.

Happy to say that my i-pad Air 2 has not had any issues so far, on the several times that I've logged in today. IOS 8.1. Paid-up member.

Something changed between 11am and 2 pm today. No changes at my end so given that there have been no changes behind the scenes at AFF (?), then the faulty Add script concept may be a starter. If you have a tracker on the auto included advertising over the last week, then maybe we can discover which one was dropped today and which was the cause? (Or is it more complicated with User fingerprint sp civic adds?)

Fingers crossed.

Haven't had a crash in 20 mins of reading after 2 pm today.
