I'm still struggling to work out what he was hoping to achieve with this interview. Holidays are overrated? Yes, we have big baggage fees?

It doesn't paint him in a good light.

And its made the local "news" media as well  with and interesting comment to end the piece, bringing in the "local interest" component.

Ryan Air boss Michael O'Learly, 'underpaid', hates holidays

...
And you thought Qantas’ Alan Joyce was a tough boss.

I think the whole interview was tongue in cheek. Don't forget that apart from running one of the most successful airlines on the planet, pissing off local & European govt and making outrageous suggestions or ideas MOL has a personable character and a very good sense of humour.

It wouldn't hurt for Sir AJ to adopt a smile or two from MOL. :-)

(No silly comments about him already adopting FR ideas and implementing them at QF)

RyanAir always seems to be looking for reasons to get people talking about it, this one seems a bit self-defeating but think of all the free press they get, smart move!!!

Seems to me he, Michael O'Leary, doesn't overdo the publicity game, unlike more frequent stunts by Richard Branson. O'Leary's last one, I recall, was about cutting back on toilets to make way for more seats.

While I've never been a fan of O'Leary, anyone that can start a press conference like this can't be all bad:

"I'm here with Howard Miller and Michael Cawley, our two deputy chief executives. But they're presently making love in the gentleman's toilets, such is their excitement at today's results.
