Hey there everyone,

I have noticed that AFF has included a few threads that are not about flying, such as threads about champagne, red wine, and all sorts of fancy stuff. I enjoy these chats, and it shows the amazing variety of people that are members of this fórum. But I would also like a place for less educated people like myself where we can yarn or brag about something silly, without worrying about the fallout.

I want it to be clean - no need for foul language. But I want it to be somewhere people like myself who are far from home and want to share can say foolish things after three shots of tequila without being ridiculed afterwards. A bit like a ¨What happens in vegas stays in vegas¨ sort of thread.

This would allow people who are emotional or DRUNK to be able to vent/show-off/download in an environment that is non-harsh on their souls.

And their messages can be received by people in a similar relaxed state of mind.

Is this a crazy idea? Please have an opinión.

Cheers,
judd.

Damn! No takers! And me here with a bottle of No. 12 Botran real Carribean rum.

Like the night I spent in Rio on the turps with an ex pat Aussie drilling boss? I'd gladly spill all, if only I could remember anything (predictable excuse).

I once spent an evening on a lonely Chilean hill with the team from Ausdrill. We declared the mountain a Chilean -free zone and we made a great attempt at an Aussie barbeque. The Ausdrill guys brought a dismantled old school for use as the bonfire. Legends :)

And here was I again being mislead.I thought this was really going to be about rum.Now the fact that in Spanish it is called Ron has nothing to do with the fact that I like it.Especially the night spent with Desmond Haynes in his local rum shack in the burbs of Bridgetown.Unfortunately when I did this I had already turned 60 and had lost the adventurous and inquisitive nature of youth. Before I may have thought now what will happen if I have just one more drink? Now I bl***y well know that the answer is So what if I have another one until you cant remember either the question or answer.
Now I may remember a few of the times of my past transgressions and come back and report. Some though will only be told after a few shouts-yours of course.;)

The Off-Topic Thread is what you are looking for....

No no.The OT thread is on too many topics. This is quite a reasonable idea and it is quite rightly in the Playground.
After a couple of glasses of wine I will start my reminiscing. Not quite what I believe you intended juddles but may get others started.Alas I am drinking alone and only a peter Lehmann Portrait shiraz because I got a 2 for 1 woollies offer here in Geraldton.

I'll agree with this thread, If I'd been away for long enough it was the rum that kept me going. So I understand and will follow

Actually, my two loves in life are Argentine Malbecs and as you have explained ¨ron¨. I will attempt to post a photo of some of my rum collection soon....

Well, I've just spent a very pleasant evening drinking Brugal rum, while partaking (reluctantly, but by popular demand) in industrial strength karaoke.

Never been one for rum but a lot of my misspent youth was drinking Stones Mac - the black label.
Whenever I used to go away on motorbike rallies a bottle or 2 would be put in the freezer some weeks beforehand.
I remember one rally down south in NSW somewhere, to get to the campsite you had to cross a river via a wooden bridge. A bunch of people decided it was a good idea to build a fire ON the bridge. Lucky for us it didn't burn down.
A lot of other motorcycle rally stories but some to bawdy to publish here I'm afraid.

For the record, and perhaps starting a fight, I define the world of rum in two distinct parts: ¨Bundy Rum¨ and real rum.

I cannot stand Bundy.

As for the rally, building a fire on a bridge displays a great sense of humour, and desire for a challenge. Excellent material. I have never ridden a motorcycle but understand the fun that it involves. I was once a policeman and had to control an annual bikie event in QLD. I disagreed with many things they did, but their love of bikes and their road trips were amazing.

Alright a first instalment. This was not a problem with rum.It came about drinking red wine then ouzo on the island of Mykonos.

Nearly 20 years ago the AMA put on a conference in Mykonos. The principal speaker was one of my former bosses who I got on very well with.In fact as a registrar I did private locums for him after getting my ticket. Now he was also of Greek parentage but not related to JohnK as far as I am aware.;) I just had to go.Mrsdrron wasn't going to miss out on this one.We were staying at the Santa Marina hotel-a luxury collection SPG hotel but before I belonged to SPG.I did right in their guest book how much I enjoyed staying at a Greek Faulty Towers hotel but that is another story.

On our second last night we were transported by local fishing boats to the "Shirley Valentine" restaurant. The Manoulas restaurant where the filming took place. It was their last night for the season.I sat down with my back to a wall and mrsdrron sat opposite. The fun started when restaurant staff started pointing at me then at the wall.I was sitting in front of a picture of the director. It was a stunning likeness.By the way he had directed a few more well known films such as Moonraker, the Spy Who Loved Me,You only Live Twice and one of my favourite films when at school-Reach For the Sky.

Now it was time for the meal with just a few glasses of a Greek red.Once the meal was over out came the Ouzo.As it was the last night it was complimentary.I got into the swing of Yasou's and opa's when imitating Zorba and smashing plates. This prompted the medico sitting next to Mrsdrron to ask her how long I had had a drinking problem. What a stupid question.I have never had a problem drinking.:D:oops:;)

Fortunately we were taken back to the hotel by bus.

Great story. Do you have a copyright on this phrase? I would like to use it in future. ;)

Oh and I won't report you to the grammar police either. :p

Use what ever you wish.
And hopefully the GP aren't looking!

....

But there is money to be made in Bundy!

We have some black label Bundy that we paid $49.95 per bottle for and its currently going for $900 to the collectors.

Told hubby we are going to have to start selling soon :)

I would pay good money for it to stay in the bottle too :)

Once in the 80´s when I was living in Chile, some friends wanted me to bring something ¨Aussie¨ from a trip home. I took them a huge bottle of Bundy OP rum - they thought it was a joke and I was trying to kill them!!!
