Hi,
I've never used Asia Miles but am looking at a potential rtw ticket and was wondering if you guru's would confirm that the following might be possible? I know from Pointhacks that we're allowed 5 stopovers, 2 transits and 2 open-jaws and that if we're going on more than two carriers, then CX must be included. What I'm wondering is if the following would be possible
MEL-HKG - CX - transit
HKG-CMB - CX - stop
CMB-DOH - QR - transit
DOH-JNB - QR - stop
JNB-MAD - IB - stop
MAD-JFK - IB - stop
JFK-YVR - CX - stop
YVR-SYD - QF or even open jaw from YVR-MEL
Specifically my questions (since I can count the stops and transits!) are:
1. Do the above flights have to be direct or is it possible to go JNB-xLHR-MAD for example? I presume in that example LHR would count as a transit?
2. Does anyone know if it's possible to oj the final leg? I believe in reading that you can, but when I went to play around with the OW rtw paid planner, it disallowed it?
3. Is there a minimum connection time that is required as I had 5hrs transit in HKG and the planner was saying it wasn't enough - I would think rules like that would be consistent whether the ticket is paid or points?
4. If I see availability on the ba website, is it reasonable to assume that the awards might be there?
5. Does anyone see any issues with the above or suggestions (lower YQ carriers or airport change to save taxes?)
Thanks very much all, much appreciated!
