RTW out of Africa

Hi All

I am currently working on and off in Ghana. I normally purchase my tickets in Australia and fly between Australia and Ghana via Dubai with Emirates.

However, I am considering alternatives that would involve a RTW ticket so that I can visit North America and South Africa later in the year. I understand that the OneWorld DONE or AONE starting in Africa is available (or used to be available) at a much lower price than one starting in Australia, so I was considering buying a ticket in Ghana or some other African country and starting a RTW trip from there. Alternatively, a Star Alliance RTW fare might be a possibility.

Anyone know the current cost for Business and First class for these flights?

Both AONEx and DONEx fares are much cheaper out of South Africa - the prices currently are in the 48500 ZAR for a DONE4 and 72000ZAR for an AONE4.

I have done two DONE4s ex-JNB. However, if you're already over that way, the current cheapest place to commence an xONEx is apparently Khartoum in Sudan.

Thanks for the replies and the link - very useful. I see on the Fares Comparison map that Accra in Ghana is meant to be $7100. I had a quote from an agent in Accra that was $17000 - so perhaps they quoted for separate flights rather than RTW - I will have to recheck. I tried using the OneWorld interactive map but I keep on coming up against rules that are a problem when I start in JNB and want to include Accra at some point or vice versa. I will have to keep trying.
