I have a short notice RTW coming up, Brisbane-LAX-Boston-London-HK-Brisbane, leaving around 7th May, returning about 15 days later. For various reasons including flexibility it makes sense to do this in J.

The One-World site costs this trip at about $12.5k. Since it's coming out of my company's limited travel budget, are there any cheaper deals around?

Many thanks

Do you want to only travel on One World Airlines or do you mind mixing it up a bit???

I mean there is an option like this perhaps ($9509 from Brisbane), not sure about two US cities but you might be able to work something out, whether there is availability is another matter...

or this one for $6749 but mostly non OW airlines...

Fly to NZ and depart from there; base cost AUD9625; with taxes/levies/surcharges that could be (booked via AA) around AU$10,500. Of course, you need to get to NZ; this can be done from $180 easily. (You need to book a last business segment back to NZ, but flying it is generally optional).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Only problem with flying to NZ would be the luggage as if going cheap you might not get away with as much carry on or checked luggage.

The other big problem might be availability of D fares at such short notice.

Some other thoughts on control costs if you do the NZ option - you then might be able to take some domestic flights in Oz afterwards which might offset other future travel costs...

I'm just about to book my RTW J trip ex NZ, I'm actually just taking a day trip to AKL, (6am over in Y, 13:30ish return in J), then stopping in MEL, then restarting a month later to DME then onto ORD & LAX (plus some quick little flights in the US for SC's).

It really isn't that hard and saves heaps!.

Cheers,

Ben
