Hi all,

Willing to pay $29 if anyone can assist. Understand it might not be possible however due to points balance. I would have jumped on that VA J RTW fare a few weeks ago, but unfortunately the dates didn't work out.

Looking to travel after 1 April 2018, return around 30 May 2018 (6-8 weeks total). 2 adults, 1 infant (6 months, so bassinet required).

VA WP, so would prefer to fly VA partners where possible.

Stops are BNE -> LAX -> DUL -> LHR -> BNE (or in reverse). Roughly 1 week in LAX, 1-2 weeks everywhere else. Open to any weird routing or stopovers, as long as it's not excessively long (due to having the bub).

I have approx 405K Velocity points, and will earn maybe another 50K or so more in the next few months

Hoping to do as much as we can in J, at least the long ones.

My current thinking was to pay for a Y VA BNE -> LAX, then upgrade for 90K points. Then, book (via VA) LHR -> BNE on SQ J for 280K points.

Then, I would likely try further J redemptions, purchase Y or look out for any J flights specials for LAX -> DUL, and DUL -> LHR

There is currently availability for SQ LHR -> BNE, but can't seem to see much for BNE -> LAX upgrades.

Alternatively - what do people think about SQ 777 vs EY A380? EY will cost more in taxes, but might be worth it? It's going to be our last trip for a while!

would you be willing to try BNE>SYD>LAX in Delta W? I don't think the hard product is that much different to Y but the bulkhead seats have good reviews on seatguru. Cost is around $1400/pax.

If you take this option then you can use points to fly from IAD to LHR for around 120,000 points + $400 for 2 pax. You can then choose whether you want to try EY or SQ on the return from LHR. The points outlay is the same 139,000 /pax however with EY you'll pay $630 /pax + $100usd per segment which blows out the costs quite a bit.

BNE->SYD->LAX is fine, but I was hoping to get lie flat beds for BNE -> LAX. I think Delta W is more like VA PE? Extra recline, but no lie flat.

As for returning, I'm leaning towards EY. Whilst it will cost more, it'll probably be a one off experience for us.
