Greetings All, questions on behalf of a US friend regarding the availability/points cost of United/Star Alliance RTW fares. Also, do they have the equivalent of Circle Pacific fares like QF/OW? Thanks, Mike

Circle Pacific fares are cash fares, although Star Alliance does have an inferior version available (I say inferior as it only covers west coast of North America - YVR/SEA/SFO/LAX - unlike the oneworld product which allows you to travel to anywhere in US /Canada that AA will take you).

United Mileage Plus does have a round the world product available using miles ... but the miles required are pretty hefty .... 200,000 miles in Economy Class, 350,000 miles in Business Class, or 450,000 miles in First/Global First Class. It may well be better to mix/match one way sectors particularly where there are availability constraints (transpacific business class is particularly problematic), and also oneway sectors allow you to use a broader range of partners than just star alliance.
