Hi everyone,

Travelling BNE-NAN later in the year, according to seat guru is on a 738 equipped with Y+ instead of J.
I am a plat and currently seated in row 3; however is Row 3 in the above configuration just like a standard Y Seat, not the extra legroom with the usual J configuration?

Any feedback would be fantastic!

Thanks

The first three rows of the VA NZ aircraft are fitted with the convertible Y+ seats. Row three has more leg room than rows 4 and beyond. I have sat in this row numerous times in 3C with my wife in 3A. Provided no one sits between you the middle arm rests can be pushed inwards to turn the three seats into two.

I'm flying SYD-APW next weekend in Y and when booking the agent suggested I sit in Row 3 'as it is where I will be most comfortable as a WP'. I understand I'm unlikely to have anyone next to me sitting here and hopefully I'll have the whole row to myself.

I'll report back about additional leg room etc noting it'll probably be when I get back as I believe internet reception in Samoa is very poor.

I'm in a similar situation flying to NZ on a VA NZ 737 in row 3 next Thursday. Pretty sure they're the same birds seat configuration wise. I can let you know my experience, I think I did the same thing to VLI earlier in the year though.

Currently no one in the seat allocated next to me, would be nice if it stays that way. Have another 3 in my party on separate bookings and was going to ask for them to fill the currently empty row 4 seats behind me, but they'll be ok for a 3 hr flight across the ditch.

Thanks to the above posters for the feedback, sounds like the row 3 on this configuration is almost better, assuming the middle seat is free.

I'll look forward to the upcoming reviews & feedback to your upcoming flights!

Thanks!

Just got off a 737 with Y+ this morning and can confirm that Row 3 are convertible Y+ seats. The middle tray table is folded up (its part of the middle back-rest) and Row 3 is sold as normal Y. It has more leg room than Rows 4 and beyond - I would estimate if the normal seats have 31" then Rows 1-3 would have 33".

Having done both Y (in Row 3) and Y+ (in Row 2) Y+ really isn't worth it. I've never understood the appeal of the product and it doesn't appear to be very popular.

I believe VA announced as part of their annual results that the NZ fleet will be upgraded to business class seats.

I agree Y in row 3 on these birds. is certainly worth it.

God I hope this slips in by new years, got a bunch of Y+ reward trips Dec/Jan and would much prefer even current domestic J.

Press release says that the trans Tasman J class will commence in March 2015 so sounds like you might just miss it.
