Hi all,

For the past few years I have had to do a lot of travel with work and am currently a QF WP re-qualified until May 2009. I am looking to extending this status until May 2010 with a RTW J trip planned for AUG/SEP/OCT this year.

Using the OW online trip planner I have come up with my itinerary (below and fits all rules apparently) and was just wondering whether anyone had any suggestions to either improve my SC or point collection. I have those three months to go away in only.

SYD-HKG-NRT-DPS-SIN-HKG-FCO-BUD-AMS-LHR-BCN-JFK-ORD-DFW-MIA-SFO-LAS-LAX-HKG-BNE-SYD

Cheers,

Chooms:lol:

One more thing... has anyone travelled with Malev before and is it any good in J???

Firstly, MileageMonkey 0.95015 fails that:
Error!!! No oneworld service exists SFO-LAS
Assuming you are in it for the status, then perhaps the following minor changes:
  • I have substituted DFW for LAS. (1900 SC's, 44336 BIS miles)
  • Go SYD-NRT and do HKG after DPS. (1940 SC's, 45,470 BIS Miles)
  • Go HKG-LHR, do AMS as a side trip. (1980 SC's, 46,666 BIS Miles)
  • Go BCN-ORD then do -ORD-MIA-DFW-SFO-DFW-LAX-JFK- before heading to HKG (2040 SC's, 48,966 BIS miles)
  • Substitute PER for BNE (2080 SC's, 49,969 BIS miles)

So you now have:
Code:
SYD-NRT-DPS-HKG-SIN-HKG-LHR-FCO-BUD-LHR-BCN-ORD-MIA-DFW-SFO-DFW-LAX-JFK-HKG-PER-SYD

Note these are only slight tweaks, trying to keep most of you original visits intact. Main changes is no BNE nor AMS.

would the rules allow me to go SFO-YYZ-LAX then so on instead of SFO-LAS-LAX?

According to the OW website planner i could get an AA flight on the 24/9/08 SFO-LAS (AA1915). If the rules allow, I would like to go to Toronto for a visit to see some friends and then drive from LAX to LAS as I will be spending at least 9 days in LAX.

I've had a quick look at the OW timetables and there is a flight (AA1915) that goes from SFO to LAX but does have one stopover. This must be one of MM weaknesses.

Like Serfty mentioned, I would fly out of JFK and try to be on the 77W flight (CX 841/AA6073- though book the AA codeshare if possible for the Status Bonus to post) and you'll be guaranteed to experience the new CX Business Class.

I've also moved the flight from LHR-LAX for a few extra miles and SC's but it depends if you want to visit BCN or not.

I've had a quick play and moved some pairs which will alter the mileage earning. SYD-SIN-NRT-HKG-DPS-HKG-FCO-BUD-AMS-LHR-LAX-ORD-MIA-SFO-las-dfw-JFK-HKG-BNE-SYD will earn 1830 SC's with the majority of segments within NA in First Class.

You would need to change something because SFO-YYZ would be either an indirect routing or North American transcon which would alter the number of segments allowed in North America.

You could definitely drive LAX to LAS but if you wanted to pick up a flight out of LAS and not drive back, this would count as a surface segment into your total of 20 segments. For such a short flight, I would recommend picking up a cheap $120 flight on AA for this segment rather than waste the SC's.

I guess oneworld Online Timetable. needs updating. :-|

As Littl_flier suggested, do LAS as a side trip from LAX - available return on AA.com from as little as USD140 all up.

To fit YYZ in you could skip SFO, perhaps doing LAX-SFO-LAX as another side trip from USD120 return.

You then get:
Code:
SYD-NRT-DPS-HKG-SIN-HKG-LHR-FCO-BUD-LHR-BCN-ORD-MIA-YYZ-MIA-DFW-LAX-JFK-HKG-PER-SYD
-with 2080 SC's and 49,519 BIS Miles.

Does this AA codeshare on CX still exist? I can't find it on aa.com. Any ideas?

Thanks v8Statesman. I was too quick to read the proceeding threads. I thought the suggestion was taking the AA codeshare JFK-YVR and that's what I couldn't find. Reading more slowly I see the discussion was about an AA codeshare JFK-HKG.
