Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Thanks for the suggestions on the washer. Would love a Miele but out of my price range. Did some research and decided on a Bosch Series 8 with I Dos. Picked one up at the HArvey Normal Factory Outlet at a fantastic price. Can't belive all the scratch and dent floor stock they have there! Keen prices too. The washer I bought has an RRP of about $2K but most stores seem to be selling it around $1450. Got it for $1140 at HN, yes it has some scuffs and scratches but was new and unused and the scratches are down the side where you cant see them once installed in my laundry. Only problem is that there is something wrong with it! :( Washes, drains etc fine, but wont spin properly! Keeps on trying to spin and then stops. Thought load must be unbalanced at first, but tried taking stuff out and even with nothing in and it still does it. Now I am faced with either a repair or replacement. I am letting Bosch come out to assess it but I have decided that if its a major fix I'm going to insist on a replacement. I didnt even call HN as I figured all they would do is offer me my money back which is not what I want, I just want a working machine!

Frustrating isn't it :(

YES!
Finally spoke to the service company allocated to the job, have to wait until Thursday for them to come. Looks like the laundromat is going to continue to make money out of me for now.
When I described the problem, he said .."hmm... that is odd.." does not bode well!

I like it when compatibles at least have the decency to pretend that your problem is not a common occurrence with the device. Same occurred with my wine cellar after only a year- "never heard of that happening". Gives me some slight confidence that I didn't purchase a lemon-line and just got a bad unit. Even if they are lying to me! :)

Any tips for a good food processor? My 16 year old Ronson has died (sadly due to me carelessly breaking the lid :( )

Service tech has been this morning, looks like its something major, an inverter or something. Have asked Bosch for a replacement, will let you know how I go!

Update on my broken Bosch Washing Machine. Got an email this morning from them as follows:

Thank you foryour email. We have contacted Ultimate Appliances who advise that theyhave ordered the part required to continue with the repair of yourappliance, which they will receive shortly. We have confidence this willresolve the issue that you are experiencing. As we anticipate thisis a quick and simple repair, we reserve the right to repair underwarranty. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Should you have any further concerns, please give us a call.

Rang them straight back and told them that I wasn't happy with that. That a washing machine that is brand new and does not spin (therefore unusable) is a major fault and that it was my right to insist on a replacement rather than repair. Told it was "supervisors" decision. Asked them to go back to "supervisor" and tell them that I am not happy and that I am insisting on my right to replacement. Came back after about 2 mins on hold to be told I would be contacted by the team that handle exchanges to arrange replacement of my machine. Sometimes you just need to stand on your dig and assert your rights. Will keep you posted, apparently it can take up to 10 business days *groan*

Had similar back and forth with a kitchen appliance that I bought recently. Their website says 30 day return policy plus extra allowances for faulty products, but they tried to push me to the manufacturer to get it fixed. Pushed back for a replacement which they agreed to as per their own policy.

Bosch also tried to get me to deal with HN directly but I pushed back on that as well. HN would likely have happily given me my money back, but that is not what I wanted, I want a working washing machine! I figured HN would not replace it for me as it was discounted floor stock and the only one they had at the time.

Hopefully this is my final update on the Bosch washing machine saga. New machine delivered today, broken one taken away. Checked it is working and all seems ok, time to get all my washing backlog done!

We have been buying from Miele seconds warehouse. It gets you great prices for items that are now better than new.

That sounds like a place I need, where is it located, not near here I guess?

Edit, huh I didn't know about them, but have found them on line, thanks for that pointer.

I didn't know about this one either, and I see that that the Melbourne location is about 5 mins from my office!!!! Too late now but good for future reference. Anyway, the new Bosch washer is fantastic, love it, everything I was hoping it would be.

My Husqvarna Automower has been installed!

I'm part of the pilot program, so they installed the machine at my house, and I need to do 10 online reviews (positive or negative, just honest) on you tube, and if I get that all done, I get to keep it. I have the 265ACX, with a retail of $4999! I'll post links to my you tube videos as I post them. My first one is really bad, so I won't share that link. :)

The early verdict? Love it. It's quiet, it's on a schedule, and just does it's thing.
