Boeing will be looking at this current issue with the 900 very carefully if they are a clever mob.

I believe it has been posted previously the issues with the development of the Trent 1000, a flow on from the Trent 900.

An insider no doubt will surface and comment.

Cheers

While I’m sure if QF chose not to go with RR and another company instead, the inevitable would happen, I’m not sure on who actually has the safer engine. Does anyone know which manufacturer has suffered from more engine problems?

I did link to this data in another discussion about ETOPS,its obviously a little old:

Does it really matter if one company has had one or two more problems than another :?: (unless of course there is a huge disparity)

By any ones standards these engines are all incredibly reliable :!:

I really feel sorry for QF at the moment and all they are going through, i hope their PR can do a good job and turn this 'situation' around and somehow for once get in the australian media's good books! :p

I wonder if bookings have slowed down dramatically at all?

Aah yes I recall.

I guess I was asking about a huge disparity like you said, but if there wasn’t, then a few here and a few there probably doesn’t mean anything.

I know there’s a sale to europe on right now ;)

I have heard QF have the lowest inflight shut down rates, lowest aborted engines related takeoffs and lowest flight cancellations (historically) on you don't seem to hear these statistics bandied around.

It has much to do with the real time inflight monitoring that goes on with QF in sydney.

Any insider comment here. This came from a respected aviation reporter.
