Roaming vs Local Sims vs Other?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about what is cheaper.

I actually like having a local SIM with a local number so that locals can contact me easily and without great expense.

Our SIM cards give you a US and a UK phone number. That's another thing that local SIM cards can't do. Give your US number out to people in the US and for anyone else, they can call your UK number. We even offer a product that allows people to call a 1800 number to call you, allowing you to pickup the incoming call charge rather than the person 'back home'.

In the end, different solutions will suit different people.

Hi I am in the USA and I purchased a prepaid USA sim card with USA home number and $10 activation credit valid for 1 month from date of activation.

My family complain by email that my sms messages haven't arrived, I can't contact them by phone.

I am frustrated and embarassed.

My three credit cards are not valid in the eye of the company.

I have no credit or record of any company.

Not only cannot be contacted at weekends they cannot be contaced out of
Australian business hours.

I haven't mentioned names as I am awaiting company action. If this action does not do something to fix up this stuff up I will need to try and contact Consumer affairs about their poor service and demand compensation.

I have got action from the company and now have my phone working. Can't
get credit using credit card or paypal as they are not USA. Funny that the company didn't mention this in their advertisements and said how easy it was to cash up

I've seen Truphone SIMs advertised in the Qantas inflight duty free magazine. Has anyone used one?

They look like an interesting alternative.. you can add a local number from many countries to the SIM (for a fee), like ekit do, but soon they say they'll provide numbers for a lot more countries all on the one SIM

I wouldn't buy one until they have more Asian countries one the list.

Data is still a rip off.. and that's where local SIMs always win hands down. Roaming data is the last big rort in the Telco environment I think.

Unfortunately Roaming Data is going to be expensive for the foreseeable future. Carriers will rape and pillage any remote carrier wanting to use their network for roaming customers to use data.

TruPhone, to the best of my knowledge, are nowhere near the whole 'number per country' thing, but then again, that's just what I hear on the grapevine. I may not be at all correct on that

Couldn't find a thread specifically on Go Sim so I thought I would revive this one; Hope that's OK, mods.

I am wondering if anyone has tried the World Phone from Go Sim and if you could give me some feedback?

The current phone listed on their Website seems to be a generic brand labelled as Go Sim quad band dual Sim; whereas their world phone Plus is a Sony Ericsson Cedar handset. I am only really interested in phone and SMS; don't need camera, data, etc.

Any help appreciated.
