Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

ZL through The Hon John Sharp is on the public record suggesting that MEL-ADL/OOL have been its best patronised routes.
It's all well and good him claiming they've got popular routes but at $59 MEL-ADL or $65 MEL-OOL with base fares of $30 or $35, they'd need near full flights or lots of people on Saver/Flex tickets to be making some $$$.

Rex adds two more Boeing 737 jets as it eyes new routes

Rex will swell its Boeing 737 fleet to eight jets in September with the arrival of another two aircraft, which in turn will add new routes to its nascent network. The airline says those corridors could include "other capital cities, large regional centres and popular leisure destinations" on top of its current embrace of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.
"The new routes will be announced shortly," Regional Express said in a media statement today.

They are basically grounded. The others still have some routes to Tasmania, and Melbourne to Cairns and some other FNQ airports.

I wonder where the new Jets will fly. I assume Perth and Cairns will launch. Which works for me cheap VA fares!

Or has everyone cancelled now that Rex has "created a dedicated online automated portal for COVID refund requests that will ensure eligible tickets are refunded to the passenger’s bank within 7 days"?

I was almost tempted the other day just to book a ticket and then one day later cancel via this portal to see for myself how quick the refund actually is.

If your ticket is"eligible"...

Do you have to provide a reason? For example if I booked a SYD-OOL for next week and then asked for a refund... you'd think that'd fall under the COVID policy, I wonder if they ask for a reason or check booking dates.

I flew to ADL on Tuesday. An operational upgrade to business class was very nice. Staff told me they expected Hobart and Brisbane to be the next ports to open but whether that was infomed or someone's best guess IDK

I had a ticket booked (that I had intended to use :)) - it is for late July and COVID interruptions in Sydney make it look less likely each day, so I clicked on the portal a couple of days back and requested a refund. Just needed to put in all the booking details etc. I await the money 'landing'?!

Just had a look at their website. They seem to be selling a "full" (5-6 flights) from SYD to MEL from 21 July. Now as I've said a few times, I don't have a crystal ball however there is a good chance that most of those won't operate.

Hmm I don’t have a crystal ball either but I can tell you there is a 100% chance all those flights won’t operate :(

I can confirm the money has now come in (minus card fee perhaps of $1-2?) A fairly smooth process.

Hi Rex

I've heard you've got some spare 737's, I'd love some cheap BNE-CNS flights as recently I've struggled to get affordable last-minute tickets. Some flights have also been completely full which may be unusual for a carrier like yourself.

Also if you're interested in trans tasman flying then I'd also happily fly BNE (or OOL) to CHC. Many of my recent flights have been canceled (or rebooked via AKL) due to lack of demand. Other services that have operated have had ~40 people on board which is ~40 people more than you'll fly from SYD-MEL this week.

Let's talk, looking forward to hearing back
Regards
Henrus
