RewardPay Alternatives

They've said the same thing to me - I'm tempted to use them for a large ATO Payment shortly. Anyone already paid ATO via BC since the change and got full points?
Hi all - I did a 'tester' for ATO spend and I got the full bonus points, so I'm going for the 'real thing' now - like @Chimp and you said, BC confirmed with me directly (although I didn't get the explanation but assume it was a change of spending code) that they are currently pay full points for ATO spend

Just tried another tester with BC and it says ATO on the pending so I think it will be no go. I am using the biller code on the payment slip-should I be using something different
PS my 'tester' has BC/ATO on statement, but still gained full points

Bluechain offering 1.8 per cent on payments up until end of june

Thanks for the heads up, I just paid out my car finance. Seems like a good deal to be paying <2% surcharge when I can claim back 1c/point and earn 5 points per dollar!

Hello all.
BLUECHAIN... can it be used for personal expenses, or just business expenses?
(I’m thinking health insurance at this point in time... paying 12 months worth and collecting the bonus AmEx points is the goal... The insurance company doesn’t accept Amex directly, but does have BPay and BPoint (Comm Bank tool to make payments via visa and master card)
thanks.

It worked for me too
Same Description on the statement but 2.25x as many points on testers one day apart
However I didn't spot it early enough to put a bigger sum through

fine for personal or business expenses - as long as supplier has ABN, it should be fine

Yes, for now I'm told
I had signed up for it a week or so ago and thought I must be missing something, thanks for confirming.

Bluechain was a bit painful initially during setup, first payment got held up and a bit of back and forth requesting extra info but was ok in the end. Was a big number though so I guess points for paying attention, and money went through quickly once released. Have a six figure car to pay for this week and dealer wants 2.25% so will give BC another go, but can’t see the value after promo rate and bonus points periods end.

I have a large ATO to pay of six digits but had it deferred interest free until mid September. I'm in 2 minds about whether to pay it before then to take advantage of promo rates/double points.

Pay a fair whack before end July and get the promo imo?

yeh kinda torn. Before June with the promo Bluechain rates would be the plan if paying it, helps make up for 2.5m plus velocity points in limbo. But interest free...

Can always look at CreditRewards after the BC discounted offer. The current Amex offer is a compelling reason to bring payment forward esp if you’re going to redeem the extra points for credit. Usually, the exchange rate to statement credit Isn’t attractive but is more attractive with double points promo.

My 2 cents.

To me, maximum Risk free return on money in hand is 3.3% pa (mortgage offset account), so three months (Jul-Sep) is 0.825%. Min return on Charge Card in terms of Bonus MR points on current redemption special is 2.25% (ignoring the regular 2.25% that one will get no matter the timing of payment).

Whether to use BC/RP/B2BPay is a different decision, depending on the respective charge (comparing to the value of regular 2.25 MR points).

Seems to me a "rational" decision is quite straight forward though parting with cash sooner than necessary really hurts...

Don’t forget to factor in BC processing fee. Leaves 2.7% margin (@ 1.8% cost and 4.5% return - increases to 3.2% if you’re Centurion).

Looks like this space is getting competitive. Just received an email from EBP they’re adding Amex at 1.7% (assuming +GST) from 3/8/20 (unfort after the Amex double points offer is finished) and will reduce MC/Visa back to 1% but adding a $24.95 monthly fee plus an unspecified high value account surcharge where you transfer >$20,000/month.
