Hi,

A friend of our's relatives from Poland are stuck in Australia, and we're looking to use QFF point to get them back.
I have found flights from Sydney to Warsaw, with QR, however they are all via Brisbane.
With the Queensland border restrictions, does the Queensland government allow transfers from domestic to international terminals ?

Thanks
LP

I dunno if you would be able to apply for an exemption? As the rules stand at the moment, you likely wouldn't be allowed to board in Sydney unless you had a travel permit to enter Queensland.

Maybe first contact ABF to see if they can get an exemption to travel overseas, yes, I do realise they are residents of an overseas country.
Then check and see what the Qld govt says, (contact Qld health and ask).

It should be OK, but confirm with the airline:
Domestic air travel
A person who enters Queensland by air and is required to transfer as soon as possible to another flight is an exempt person if:
  1. they remain in the airport until the time of transfer to the other flight and comply with a requirement or direction of a relevant authority; or
  2. they comply with a direction to self-quarantine given by a relevant authority.

You can apply for a border pass and select "domestic transit passenger" as the reason.

It's poorly worded as it doesn't specifically account for D>I connections; common sense indicates they are trying to exclude I>I and I>D connections, but as far as QLD is concerned there's no difference between D>D and D>I.

👍 (although you would have thought they would have been happy with I>I connections!!)

Not that I am an expert, but can QFF be used for friends though.
Would it be allowed under the QFF system?
You don't want your account locked for "fraud", or something like that.
I do realise that one way fares will be very expensive, would it be worth paying for the $ (?), using points like this, is but using points for something like this, I would not dice with, if it was to be in my case, (realising its not), unless double or triply sure its allowed under QFF system.
A lot of what ifs.
You need to check with many organisations, both the airline, ABF, and also the Qld govt.
Check and double check first and make sure, before proceeding.
Maybe first, check and see if you can use points for friends PNR booking with your points.
If yes, then check with ABF, see what they say, if no exemption needed, then next step.
Qld govt.

Pretty sure you can use QFF points you have for your immediate family. This is what our friend is doing. Its for their mother, and niece. I've booked for my family members before quite a few times (domestic and international), and its never been an issue. I think the only thing that is unclear, is whether some kind of a permit/exemption is required to transfer in Brisbane from Domestic to International.

Ah, friend's relative, and the friend will use their own QFF account to do it.
If you take a look at the first OP, mentions a "friend of our relative".
2nd, then I get it.
