Insurance is run by Chubb. Looks like a moderately stripped back version of Amex Platinum Charge, if you have that (ie significantly inferior, but much better than nothing).

I think they really need to step it up - especially after other CCs have screwed up their insurance products, this is a very good and clear opportunity for revolut - plus, paying $100/m and not having the best insurance is diabolical.

1000 per annum is v expensive, but Platinum Charge is even more expensive at 1450, so i guess one can understand it might not be as good.

My wife applied. She’s on the basic plan. She got rejected. She’s got a credit rating in the ‘excellent’ band and also never been knocked back before

I don't use it for paying insurance or school fees as the small transactions I've tried have earned no points. I use it for paying most of bills etc since I'm after the Avios points which are 1ppd compared to the AMEX Platinum which is 0.75ppd. I like that the points get credited instantly rather than having to wait for the transaction to clear or in the case of HSBC waiting until the statement comes out.

I got no points and charged interest for a cash advance for a gift card purchase I did through giftz.com.au (it is because the gift card was billed directly by Blackhawk Network, no cash advance fee when I've bought the same gift cards with AMEX or HSBC though). The other gift card providers have earned points and not had any cash advance interest so far.

Doing some forward planning for next-card options after the Collapse of Earn (1 Oct). As I understand it, Sniip is currently working but other platforms (pay.com.au etc) not (or untested?).

Obviously Metal and Ultra are the only cards worth considering in the AFF context, but Ultra is not worth it ongoing unless you are using its features a lot, so I'm wondering:

• If you've held the Metal for a few months and then want to "enhance" to Ultra for a few weeks of travel (one subscription month, if timed right) and then "(QF-meaning-enhance" down to Metal again, is that possible? I can't work it out from available terms.
• Was the application process for the credit card different/easier/harder from what we're used to from existing banks?
