Retaining status before end of year

Hi all

I need a few nights stay to retain ALL Gold by the end of the year, Considering an end of year stay between Dec 27th - Jan 1st. Does anybody know if the nights stayed in Dec will count for this years status retention, even if I’m checking out in January ?

Yes. The nights will credit to 2024 as this would be your check out date.

So “No” for counting towards 2023 tally.

If you’re only a few nights short, take a look at Ibis Business or Accor+. The comp nights might get you there?

Hmm ok. I wonder if I could possibly break the stay into 2 bookings. Ie 27th-31st and then 31st-1st in a separate booking. Realise it may mean I have to do a checkout/checkin during the stay and prob go through the hassle of changing rooms but might be a way to get around it

However, “yes” is the correct answer to the question asked by the OP which was, “Does anyone know…”

Because I know the answer, my answer was “Yes”.

It’s also why I added the second sentence to clarify that checking out in 2024 will credit to 2024.

I don’t know if it has changed but I’m pretty certain check out is aligned to Paris times.
A few years back I ran into this same issue and was told that was the reason why my points went on the following years account

A few years back I ran into this same issue and was told that was the reason why my points went on the following years account

I recently waited 7 days, applied for missing points/stay via ‘Claim your points’ on the app but had to wait a further 2 days before it was logged. Once received the points etc were posted the same day.
 
that depend on hotel , sometime next day. you can also send request after 8 days if points not credit to your account , make sure you attach invoice for reference.

Usually credit in between 2 and 4 days.
The online form is after 8 days. If you have the invoice attach it and it will usually be fixed quickly. If you don't have the invoice, it gets sent to the hotel anyway, so may be better just to follow up with the hotel.

Assuming the hotel will do a 1 night booking for NYE. Regardless of a previous 4 night booking and be prepared for a very expensive 1 night on NYE
 
I ask this to everyone who has status be it with an airline, hotel or something loyalty program: are you getting any value out of it? A lot of people clamour for status both in terms of the prestige and the alleged benefits. Well, you've been Gold this year. Did you get any benefits as being a Gold? IMHO having been Accor+Gold for much of last year the answer was not really. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the welcome gift, and occasional upgrade, but it wasn't earth shattering in terms of benefits. Contrast that with Marriott where I hold Gold status thanks to my AmEx Platinum card, whenever I stay at a Marriott I am getting a 2 PM late check out, across the board. I don't have to beg like I do as an Accor+Platinum to get a noon checkout (and sometimes even then I'm not granted). At the end of the day you need to audit where you are spending your money on travel and come up with a strategy. In my case last year and much of this year I was staying in Australia.

Consequently, I decided to stay at Accor properties as they often had the cheapest rates and greatest selection of hotels in the region. This allowed me to achieve Accor+Platinum status which is miles ahead of your Gold. I get free breakfast across the board in Asia-Pacific at all properties except ibis budgets. That means I can book a $99 red hot deal at the ibis Sydney Darling Harbour and get free buffet breakfast for myself and my partner out of the transaction which makes the cost very negligible. I get good welcome gifts (I'd say on par with Gold IME), but also find I'm getting better success with upgrades at Accor properties, and am more likely to have some early and late checkout privileges (whereas with Gold it was very miss) along with lounge access at the few hotels that did have an executive lounge. I also get 2 suite night upgrade vouchers which means I can spend a couple bucks at a Sofitel and upgrade to a luxury suite room at no additional cost for 2 nights.

Now this choice makes sense for me given my travel patterns. If you aren't travelling a whole lot and you aren't finding Accor to provide the best price/availability in the places you are travelling, then you need to reconsider your strategy here. Before I moved to Australia, I would stay usually at Marriotts, Hiltons or Choice Hotels for the very simple reason that there wasn't any Accor hotels where I was living (UK and USA). And for those who are going to point out that Accor has some properties in those locations, yes, if you have binocular out and are looking really carefully. But would you bother staying at an ibis property when you can stay at a Courtyard or Doubletree for the same rate? I wouldn't!

Is this a membership on top of Accor+? If you've already subscribed to Accor+, do you still get the bonus nights of signing up to either the Ibis or Voyageur cards?

It looks like it's charged in EUR - therefore it's best to use a non-foreign transaction card.

What are others' experience with this add-on? (I'm trying to work out if it would be worthwhile for me.)

I assume if you signed up now you’d get the 10 nights *BUT* this late in the member year I don’t know for sure.

Oh, I need to look at Accor+ again. It used to be instant Silver but went to comp nights also. I thought it was only 10 nights also?

I’ve never bothered with A+ (doesn’t work beyond Oz/Asia) but many here get value from it.

The website says instant silver + 20 nights at the moment (so 10 away from gold). It seems like a good deal - I may have to trial it to determine if it works for me or not.
 
Hiya, hoping I can ask a different but related question.

I am Accor Plus (via Amex) and have an expiry date in March 2024. I logged in to the app today which indicated I was 17 nights away from platinum and I have until March 2024 to earn those nights.

I thought status credits expired 31 December every year, which makes the info on the app inaccurate? If I have missed something obvious then I apologise and thank you in advance for any clarification.

When you renew your Accor Plus on 2024, they will re-evaluate you status based on the following:
- The previous calendar year : 1-Jan-2023 to 31-Dec-2023
- Accor Plus membership 12 months prior ( in your case : 1-Apr-2023 - 31-Mar-2024 )

and you will get the higher of these 2.
