Retaining Partner Gold - is it possible?

A question I've not found a clear answer to: If a well-travelled QFF bestows Partner Gold, can said partner then retain the Gold status 'indefinitely' by attaining the annual 600 SC necessary, or does it vanish after a year and the well-travelled partner have to do it again when reaching 2400 SC?

Once you have the Partner Gold you're then treated as Gold in QFF, so if one gets the 600 to retain it goes from there.. so yes. The only time it vanishes are after the expiry date per the Platinum+ gifter's membership date, and if not enough SC's are earned the appropriate status level would be granted again.

Thanks for the quick response - still trying to get an answer from the QANTAS chatline, it's been 20 minutes so far...once again AFF beats the establishment!!

Of course if the Platinum+ wishes to bestow Partner Gold again at 2400SC then that would kick in (if the SC were not earned). As far as I can tell you can do it over and over (I gift to different people every year) but once given usual Gold benefits and requalification requirements apply, which would show on the Partner Gold's summary of how many SC's are required to retain Gold.

yes, I think it would.

Partner Gold aligns to the gifter's membership year. ie say your membership year ends July 31, and the "partner" year ends April 30, if you gifted now, I would think the Partner Gold would see their Gold extended till end of July, 2018 (if that makes sense).

Would also be interested to know how it treats renewal dates. For example if your membership year starts Jan 1 and you are gifted SG on Feb 1 - do you get it until Dec 31 of the current year, until Jan 31 the following year, or until Dec 31 the following year as though you had 'earned' gold between Jan 1 and Feb 1?
