Sometime soon, I have to fill out a visa form which requests details of countries visited, dates etc.

Quite complicated for me to remember, and my passport/s only help with some reconstruction. Flight histories and itineraries also help, but looking for a better source to tie it all together and ensure I havn't missed anything that the country may be able to find.

According to DIMMI,
Movement Records - Monitoring People Movement - Border Security , there is a form to request movement records. But it doesn't seem to be the right form for requesting my entire departures/arrivals file.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

Last time I had to do something like that I ended doing a statutory declaration on countries visited which covered what was needed

I would have thought that the passenger movement information would only provide details of arrivals/departures at Australia and not give details of entry/exit for other countries

Funny you have the same isue i do Mal.
I was looking at my passport the other day and could not even find what some stamps were for at only the begining of this year like the UK.

That's all I'm looking for. Just a reference of when I've exited and entered Australia. The rest is pretty easy to locate or remember, just don't want to miss any trips.

Interesting about the Stat. Dec. Something for me to look into.

There are records of all passenger movements in/out of Australia. The show the date, port of entry/exit, vessel no. and some other info. But I don't know if these are "freely" avaliable from Immigration. The fact the website doesn't mention their avalibility suggests Immigration doesn't want to be handing the records over to general punters. However, it is personal information, and maybe FOI gives access? (although that is a costly, administrative nightmare )

I have done Stat Dec's to cover gaps in my record as well.

It's only evil to Immi, not the person applying (if they know exactly what they want!). As an individual it's free I believe because it's personal information about themselves. The tricky part is knowing exactly what to request. Maybe I'll go down that path...

Can't rebuild you trip history based on your issued airline tickets ?
I can do mine i think from all the emails from the travel agent.

For a US Work visa Im currently applying for, they are asking for details for the past 10 years

Not up on other people, but I don't keep tickets et al longer than I have to.

Fortunately ( unlike the previous case where I ended up doing a Stat Dec ) the US only needs to know the years rather than specific dates

Ok, i see your problem now.... i have averaged 1 page a month usage on my passport the last 2 years so you can imagine how many places i have visited in only the last 2 years.

I have good records, and have emails from many years back, plus Flight Histories and in some cases FF statements, boarding passes and similar. But not always easy to search.

Much easier if I can cross-reference my exits from Australia/Entries into Australia with what I found independantly, that way I can be pretty sure that I have the required information.

Because im nosy, can i ask why you need it - sounds ominous. If its too close to being personal im quite happy to be told to get stuffed!

Without going into specifics, I think you will find that quite a few countries require previous travel history before granting either long term residency or working visas.

It's mainly to do with the background checking they do.

Other high level security clearances (even in Australia) often also require similar information.

Thats cool, more than enough info... Like i was saying i was just curious as to why you needed it. Im not all that up to date with all thats needed for working OS as we ahvent got there yet!

As long as i dont work in or for Cuba, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan or Syria i will manage to keep my cough out of a US detention centre i will be happy. I have no idea how the US would track me but i do know i have signed some documents and i am not ever keen to find out the hard way !

(And you may wonder why the limitations... due to some detailed knowlege of security on some systems used by the US mil, although i think i forgot all the important things already :lol::lol: )

My partner mocks me for keeping a database of all my flights. Sounds like it may have a purpose one day, other than just for posterity!

Interesting postscript to this thread...

Went into Immigration today with the form above filled out & appropriate ID and requesting 10 years worth of my entry and exit information.

After queuing for ~30 mins, and then waiting another 10, I got called up and the Immi person starts tapping away. About 10 mins later, they left and returned with quite a few printed pages, each of which they then certified as a true and correct copy.

(Note only 4 entries are on each page ... 2 entries and 2 exits.. so my history was long enough - I'd hate to see some other people's history).

So all up about an hour, and I have my entry/departure record for the last 10 years (or however long I wanted < 30 years).

Each entry shows date, port (not as SYD/BNE etc, but using Immi's reference), flight number, passport number and some other reference information.

So it can be done - and is as simple as filling out a form and taking it in, or sending it in with certified copies of identification.
