Request for assistance in trying too book reward flight SYD-SIN-HKG-ICN Return

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to book a flight for my wife and I to have a week in Seoul for a weeks holiday. We need to fly through Singapore to drop of our son to spend some quality time with his grandparents so we can have some time to ourselves (10 year anniversary). As money is tight, I am planning to try and book on points as much as possible, but I am just wondering if I am booking the best way:

Note also trying to take advantage of the 20% off on reward flights at Qantas at the moment
Leaving from Sydney in march 2017

Sydney to Singapore on Qantas (return):

2 Adult 1 child:
$837.20 AUD
134, 000 points

Singapore to Hong Kong to Seoul on Cathay codeshare:

2 adult:
$216.60 SGD

112, 000 points

The total is approximately $1000 AUD and 226, 000 points. Any assistance if this is the best way to book would be really appreciated.

I don't know about 'best' because that is such a subjective term, but that sounds ok to me. I assume you have checked the cash price for the flights to SIN. I have found in the past that it is not much more money to pay outright for flights to SIN and save the points, because the fees are so high on Y points bookings on QF.

If it was me I would also check what 'points + pay' would offer but I know other AFFers dislike points + pay.

CX redemptions are generally good value, as you seem to have found out

If if you explain what 'best' means to you, others may have some better ideas.

That was pretty much it. What I meant by best, is whether I could purchase the same type of routing (even with a stopover) with less points or pay less.
