Apparently not, or at least not any more. Someone posted on Twitter about how speedily their renewed passport had arrived. I was going to ask him about the expiry date in his new passport when it became apparent that we temporarily had the ear of an Internal Affairs bigwig with responsibility for passports:

The conversation continued briefly (see this tweet and its replies) and I certainly felt that my feedback had been engaged with. :rolleyes:
