Refused entry at Wellington Qantas Lounge as QF Plat flying JQ

I spoke to a station chief who had both Jetstar and Qantas lanyards on , I figured she was the station chief for both sides of the Qantas Group, but might be wrong. It was definitely a Qantas Group employee as she had a different uniform to the rank-and-file agents. They were using the same check-in desks for both the QF and JQ flights when I visited (I came through HNL a few times for inter-island flights on Southwest which happened to be nearby, so I noticed that it was the same desks).
Maybe things have changed since I visited HNL back in May but there were two separate sections for JQ and QF check-in (albeit you are right that they are in the same general vicinity). In any event, I still maintain that talking to a check-in agent at the QF counter might have done the trick, then again I could just been very lucky! It is unclear how QF lounge access works on JQ flights when QF's own lounge is closed but they have contracted with a partner to provide the service. Then again, I think many of us here appreciate that the HNL QF lounge has now reopened as it is a cut above the SkyClub - at least according to Uncle Alan! 😂
 
True, the Qantas lounge at Wellington is not an International First lounge, but the fotonote (+) still applies on International Business Lounge too (just scroll down on the website).


I agree with some of the comments here, Qantas outstation staff needs to be trained better, for the experience of being refused can be rather embarrassing. I will also still point out that the website needs to be updated accordingly, especially when there is a glaring contradiction when the 'green tick' mark means 1 guest is allowed while the (+) footnote says no guest permitted. I find it rather unprofessional for an international flagship airline's website to deliver such an inconsistent message.

You have one guest if you meet the various criteria. You can't take a guest if your entry is by way of flying Jetstar Business Max.
