What do we need to charge our iPad and Macbook Air in J BNE/LAX on refurbed 747? or is it just normal OZ plug?.

Yep, they take normal AU plug.

Make sure you use the MacBook Air power supply, not a higher rated one (such as from a MacBook Pro).
 
It's a multi-plug socket - it takes Oz/NZ, EU, US/Japan plugs. The only 'major' plug that needs an adapter for these is the UK type.

I've had trouble getting my Macbook Air power supply to make proper contact in these sockets. Takes a lot of wiggling. Maybe it's the AU pin configuration. Next time I thought I'd try an EU adaptor to see if that helps.

And sometimes the power is not on anyway -- cabin crew have said they'll attend to it when we level out.

Oft happens - I find whacking a US/EU adaptor in fixes the issue for OZ angled pins.
