Hi all

Last night I was looking to book a business class reward flight NTL-BNE-CBR for early next year to take advantage of the recent DSC offer, and while Points Club is still around.

I was able to find one itinerary (and I think just one) with Classic Reward availability in the 10 or 12 days around late Jan-early Feb. It showed a CR price of 38,600 points per pax, compared to about 60,000 and upwards for CR+.

So I decided to book it, and while moving through the process a banner popped up saying Qantas had found a better price for the fare, and it dropped down to 29,000 points per pax. That all went through with both legs confirmed in J and 58,000 points taken from my account.

Does anyone know why this happened? A small system gitch that went my way? Or perhaps a legitimate recalculation based on the total distance of the trip? In any case, a good, unexpected outcome.

Cheers,
Horatio
