Anybody else having issues with the reduced capcity in J ex SIN to SYD?

Last few weeks have been very average with having to come home via BNE on occasions.

Seems especially bad on Friday nights, would think that QF need to look at how to service this better.

Has capacity been reduced? That's contrary to what Qantas has been saying. Oh yeah that's right none of us are meant to believe they tell the truth.

I guess everyone is scared for the future when the flights are all empty but then if the flight is full (even if its only J class) we are all furious if we can't get a seat....

A330s have been operating both services for two weeks, so yes capacity is down with one flight effectively halved in available J seats, with a total of 60 available for the route.

Though if course the a/c used to fly onto London or Frankfurt. So is capacity to Singapore down or increased? According to Qantas dedicated capacity to Singapore is actually up.

We are talking about a decrease after the changes, when there was a 747 and a A330 both solely doing SIN-SYD, now just two A333s, and talking about the J cabin, where no such promise of an increase in capacity has specifically been made, just like the F cabin has had a reduction ;)

As you would well know the situation the first 2 weeks of April was interim. So lets compare prior to the caning of Singapore as a hub. Before there was an A380 and 747 that continued on to elsewhere so capacity was shared. Now they gave two dedicated A330's. Sure there is no first but elsewhere whee is the evidence that capacity is reduced in real terms? Qantas says dedicated capacity is up not down.

The op is talking about the recent experience which is not the first two weeks of April, that is the topic for discussion, lets stick to it, specifically the reduced availability of J for the OP to book, we all know there are plenty of Y seats on the cheap, so yes capacity is up enabling those $200 one ways!

we should all be thankful if J is full, helps pay for those at the back paying bugger all

SIN has been moved to DXB

Not quite, the OP is talking about how hard in the last few weeks its been to get a J seat SIN SYD, when QF5 went from a 747 to an A333, resulting in 90 odd dedicated J seats SIN-SYD going to 60, AKA a 33% reduction. As they note, often routing by QF52 through BNE is available, simply because BNE has the greatest number of J seats available to book.

Its not been helpfull to have school holiday traffic on the route either, there was no J available Sunday a week ago on either flight.

Whilst the OP is talking about their experience in the past 2 weeks or so there is nothing what so ever in their post to suggest their comparison for reduced capacity is based on the two week interim timetable or prior to 31st March. Please advise where they definativly stated what thry were comparing to as it seems two of us at least rwad their post different to you.

I stand by my comments that in real terms (ignoring the 2 week abnormality of having a 747 on the route) that capacity has not reduced. If business class is full it could well be that it is a busy time, an event is on or it could also be a sign that the refined flights are working for Qantas. Only time will tell if it is a long term issue or just temporary.

Not sure why you feel having an abnormality is the presence of the 747, QF5 reverts to a 747 in June, it is in fact an abnormality that the reduction is caused by the A333 operating the 5/6, which is why the are selling PE on the route, which of course is also temporarily gone with the likelyhood pax have been OP upped.

Tongue was in cheek... although QFs focus has obviously been on DXB in recent months and they must be careful not to make travel to Asia seem an afterthought of theirs

Understood, although the retiming is causing issues with crowding locally and in SIN, still arriving too late for connections to many cities though, AKA TPE, unless you like a 1 AM departure.
