hey guys,

I was wondering if the credit card has to match the account holder name? I know you can book for other members of the family but does the credit card have to, have to , have to match!?!

And if so then still el segundo? I have US credit card but then that will create a name mismatch.

Thanks in advance :) - scheps

I am not aware of any name match requirements. I just pay on-line and so long as the credit card billing address matches the address entered at the billing stage, and add a leading zero to the post code to make it 5 digits), I have had no issues using several different credit cards (Amex, 28 Degrees MC etc). But in my case, the name on the card has always been mine and naturally matched the AAdvantage account name. Many times the name on the card does not match the name on the tickets.

Thanks NM, I was worried about the account and Cc name mismatch. I hope to see if anyone has done that successfully before.

Hi scheps,

The account name doesn't have to match the name on the credit card. I have done this many many times. The AA agents seem to think that it's important but it's not. My brother doesn't have a credit card and I've booked flights for him using my credit card from his AA account and all good.

Much appreciated. Was it done online or phone may I ask?

I've always paid for my wife's bookings (by phone) using my card but we do share a surname. I did once get caught being charged $75 for using an Australian CC but I think they have dropped that now.

You should have no problems, I book European flights all the time for my daughter with my credit card with Australian address.

My experience has been different.
When booking from wife and daughter's AA accounts I've had to use their credit cards on line and over the phone.
Computer and agent both said no to mine.
Has this changed recently?

They will tell you that because that's genuinely what they believe. They were probably told that through training, etc.
But they have no way of verifying whether the name/address given matches the address or phone number or name on the credit card. As long as number, exp date and security code are valid and your issuer is not blocking the transaction and their is available credit then the transaction in my experience will always go through.

I have told them many times when paying that my card has the exact same name as my advantage account when it fact it is completely different. The transaction has gone through and the passengers got tickets issued and have already flown.

Once I got in a bit of an argument with an AA agent who insisted and questioned that the address that I gave her must be the same address that I gave my credit card issuer when I applied for the card. This was when I was new to AA redeeming. So I tried the best tactic I know, thanked her politely then HUACA (hung up and called again). The next agent was all good and flights were booked without a problem.

OK, thanks, I'll give it a try next time.
