Singapore Airlines publishes lists of cancelled flights and altered schedules, here's their one for April: Covid-19: Singapore Airlines and SilkAir Flight Schedules for April 2020, others will be published for coming months... so keep an eye out.



I wouldn't assume this as they don't know whether or not you have the right to transit/enter Singapore (for example a returning citizen).
I guess it might be a good time to take advantage of no cancellation fees in the low chance that they withdraw it in the coming months

Just got a call today from SQ asking about our flight on 20th April and whether we wanted to rebook dates for open ticket or full refund, for 3 redemption and 1 commercial infant ticket. They did say refund will take a while. Like most people, it's just too difficult and risky to rebook for any flights for the remainder of the year.

Managed to also cancel flights for May for my parents. Operator was excellent, advised if the points were soon to expiry and if so then rebooking an open ticket would be best scenario. Advised her these were fresh points so no issue there. She also cancelled all my waitlist for the remainder of the year at my request.

Was going to call them later today but this saved me the massive hassle of calling and waiting.
 
Just received email confirmation they will cancel and send refund request to australian office to process. It will take 4 months to process due to the large amount of request at the moment.

Is 4 months, pretty much in the next financial year, still a long time, even with the large amount of request?
 
It's all very confusing.
We had bookings to Frankfurt for next Thursday.
Singapore cancelled the Sin to FRA leg and left open the BNE to SIN.
Last week I managed to get through to SIA and eventually they agreed that the BNE to SIN leg should be cancelled. Offered an open ticket but declined for a full refund. Was told that the refund could take up to 4 months to be processed.
Now the confusion as our flight to Frankfurt is now showing as available. (Of course we are not going.)
Both Singapore and Germany are restricted so we could not go even if we wanted to.

Are SIA predicting a relaxation ?.

Being positive I have today booked travel to Italy for next January. What are the odds ?

When I originally posted this query, the offer was not there, and my friend was given two different refunds, for each flight. Ive since cancelled my flight under the new ‘no cancellation fee’ conditions, so will just wait for the 4 months for the points and taxes to be refunded...

They are flying to FRA in May and June I read
 
A bit OT but while I am still waiting for points and taxes to be returned to my account for flights MRU-JNB-SIN-SYD (will follow up again this week) - I also have 2 award tickets SYD-SIN-FRA in mid-July (with the return on EY using AA points) - now even if SQ are flying this route as long as international travel is banned (or otherwise high risk) I will cancel this as well and hopefully SQ will waive the cancellation fee.

I don't see any reason to cancel until much closer to the date as the chance of the travel waiver being extended would probably be higher. Of course there's all the hotels etc for this trip to be dealt with as well - seems to be a full time job - good luck we're "locked-down" :cool::cool:
 
Any luck for return of points? Flights cancelled and Ive done the online form 3 times, sent a couple of emails, reached out on social media and been on hold for hours on the phone.

I get they are inundated but its almost May (ie, theyve been working on this for a couple of months) that they could have had the backlog of points return cleared out with a room full of data entry clerks.
 
Cancelled our September redemption Frankfurt to Sydney last Thursday - pressed the cancel button online and agreed to pay the cancellation fee (about $200). Got the points back instantly, and the taxes of approx $350 have already been refunded. No cancellation fee was charged. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe if you cancel online the refunds are all automated, while the refunds for the manual cancellations are processed by humans?

We rebooked for Singapore and Japan (first class!!) in April 2021. Fingers crossed we can travel by then!

Trying to be patient but its been about 6 weeks so today Im feeling a bit frustrated but trying to not let it get to me... but it is slightly today.

Definitely would be getting frustrated if it was me too. When i emailed before cancelling my flights they told me it could be 20 weeks before i see a refund of the taxes, so i was very surprised to get it within a week....hopefully they start clearing their backlog and the 20 week timeframe reduces - seems crazy to me, it's almost 6 months. Do they want people to rebook or not?
 
Got an email this morning and another flight cancellation processed and points returned to KF account - which is very much welcomed. No mention of return of taxes in the email though.
 
I got the email this week about my flight being cancelled. .As it was booked using all points that had actually expired i ws happy with the outcome. No cancellation fee, points returned with a new expiration date of 2021 and taxes to be returned. The way I read their email they are processing cancellation in order of when the flights leave so as my cancellation is not until mid July I'm not going to be stressed as they have acknowledged the cancellation request.
