Hi there,
Lifetime Silver member

Summary of NON Covid credit situation below:
I have a Qantas PE (M class) credit and the airline is not being as accomodating as I would hope when trying to redeem the credit ($1,580).
I am unable to redeem on the portal and have needed to speak to the customer service team (long story short, none of the team seem to know the system or how to assist other than "use it or loose it"
FYI - I took the first leg (Brisbane to London) and due to family health matters needed to stay in UK without an end date at the time. Return flight is London to Sydney)
My return timing is now 1 month outside the 12 months from original booking

My question below:
If I use my credit (plus additional funds to the meet the cost of a new flight) and book the redeemed flight inside the 12 month Qantas conditions timeframe (ie: book and fly by 10th Jan 2024)
can I then change this new Jan flight booking from London to Sydney to fly on 8th Feb 2024?

Many thanks for any assistance

Hmm, this is a hard one. To be clear, are you looking to return >12 months after the original booking, or after the original outbound trip (Brisbane to London)? Usually the fare rules state the maximum stay as 12 months so I wonder if that's being violated here.

Hi encrytededdy,

Thanks for responding.
I want to return in Feb although my credit expires in Jan and I'm wondering if I book my return within the 12 months credit Jan timeframe
then,
is it possible to change the Jan booking (the one inside the credit timeframe) to Feb (even if I have to pay a change fee??)

Many thanks

Generally speaking, if the credit hasn't expired, you can book a flight for a date after the credit expires provided you actually make the booking before the credit expiry.

The issue is you have a credit on a partially flown ticket, and as I understand in this case your return flight cannot be more than 12 months after the departure flight.

You post is confusing ...
You have already used half the ticket ? Ie flown BNE to LON? and you are in London now looking to return to Aust?

If that is the case - you need to book the return date to travel within 12 months of the DEPARTURE date ( issue date is irrelavnt ).

If you cannot book a return flight within the 12 months from departure, only optionis to refund the remaining, however this is reassessed againts a one way fare + cancel fees so you probably will not get much back.
